Non-Bookish News:

Well, my first week back to school (AKA work) was insane. We had a problem with a few things that the state wanted documentation on by the end of the week and we were scrambling to get everything together. Plus, teaching test prep to kids who are only there because their parents made them? Not the best. But, I survived, and got it all done. If this is any indication on how the rest of the school year will be, I am in trouble!

Its still miserably hot here. My school doesn’t have AC in most of the building either. Trying to find things to wear that are as cool as possible yet still ‘work appropriate’ is tough!

I got my blood drawn on Friday in preparation for my upcoming endocrinologist appointment. Hopefully I can get some answers as to what is going on with my thyroid levels and why I have been so miserable!

Is anyone else as obsessed with the Olympics as I am? I have been a fan since I was young and I am always so excited when its time for another Olympics! I love both the winter and summer! Gymnastics is my favorite summer Olympic sport, hands down! But, I actually have found I enjoy watching just about all of it-rowing, swimming, track, shooting. It all is just fascinating to me! Maybe its because I have absolutely NO athletic talent at all!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I used to be a big fan of the Olympics but then I kind of stopped watching for some reason. But this year I’m super excited. I’m hoping to watch some tonight. I’m with Grace on swimming and gymnastics being my favorite but I like just about everything else too. School here started back this past week and this is the first year my youngest was in full day school. I’m struggling to adjust but he’s doing great. I can’t imagine not having a/c in the whole building. I can’t imagine how miserable that is. My husband is a little bit older than me and when he was in school they didn’t have air conditioning and they would actually cancel school if it got above so they ended up missing quite a bit in September and some in May. Have a great week and good luck with the endocrinologist.

    • I just love the olympics!
And yes, the no AC thing is miserable! I went to a school with no AC growing up and I remember a few times school was cancelled because it was too hot. Sadly, that NEVER happens now. We just sweat it out!

  2. I spy a couple of books to check out. LOL I hope your tests go well and they can help you feel better. Been watching some Olympics but must confess I’ve been watching a lot of Netflix too. Hope you have a wonderful week.

  3. I might be the only one that is not rushing to read It Ends with Us but my CoHo history hasn’t been stellar. I totally missed the Olympics opening ceremony due to timezones. Europe has the worst luck when it comes to events. My school – back in the days – never had AC either but then again we start mid September, I can’t imagine going to school in August! Have a good – cooler – week!

    • Honestly, I am one of the few who isn’t a big CoHo fan. Her books have been so hit or miss. This one, while it was beautifully written and has such an amazing message, was just not my cup of tea. I’m in the minority. I need to just stop reading her books. I always think “Maybe this one will show me why everyone raves about her books!” and then I’m disappointed. Oh well!
Sadly, this week isn’t suppose to be any cooler-upper 80’s-low 90’s plus the horrible humidity.

  4. I am glad you survived your first week back at school. I hope the school year is a good one. No AC in the school?! That’s crazy. I hope the test results give you the answers you need–and that it’s an easy fix. The not knowing can be the worst.

We’re watching the Olympics too. We’re overdosing in them this weekend since we likely won’t be able to watch much during the week. At least I won’t. My husband can stay up as late as he wants and be find for work in the morning. Me, not so much. I need my sleep. And now that I’ve set myself up to have to be at work even later (what was I thinking?!), I feel like a kindergartener having to go to bed so early . . .

I hope you have a great week! I hope it’s not too hot and you are able to keep cool.

    • Yes, I usually get caught up on the weekends using the NBC sports app! Otherwise I wouldn’t get to watch much!

No AC totally sucks as much as you think. Its miserable! Sadly, this week isn’t suppose to be any cooler (upper 80’s-low 90’s)

  5. Like you I love the Olympics. Maybe it’s because it’s only every 4 years that they seem so special but there is something so appealing about watching them. I love the gymnastics and the track and field. You got some great books, enjoy!

  6. I loved Swear on this Life!! A favorite for sure. I like Kirsty Moseley’s books. I’ve been following her on Wattpad since 2012 so I’ve read a lot of her books. But for some reason I’m not interested in this book :/ I hope the doctor finds out what you have. Let’s hope it’s nothing serious. Best of luck <3

  7. I am watching the Olympics right now, too!!! I love that it’s on all day. I have a channel that will let me what up to 6 events at once (I have Directv – it’s channel 205). But regular NBC has all the good stuff right now 😉 I’m sorry you’re missing the live stuff 🙁 BOOOOOOOOOO for work!!!!!

I’m crossing my fingers and saying a prayer for the doctor to figure out your thyroid issues!! And hang in there with school – of course the kids are surly right now, no one wants to be back at school when it’s still summer, silly! I’m sorry you already had a write up, though!! May your next week be better!!

Awesome book haul this week! Enjoy!

  8. Sounds like a busy first week back on school! Here the weather hasn’t been too hot lately, warm but doable. We don’t have AC here either, so I know how hard it is to find something cool tow ear. I have a few long skirts that are very thin, which are great when it’s warm.
I don’t watch the Olympics, but then I rarely watch tv. I have watched it now and then when i was younger, but usually sporadically or when my mom put something on. I hope you’re enjoying the Olympics. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!
