Non-Bookish News:

This past week was teacher appreciation week. We got lots of goodies (breakfast one morning, lunch another day, and plenty of candy!). I won a $25 gift card to Longhorn Steakhouse too! I was super excited!

Friday was my interview and it went okay (I am never sure!). But, I had this moment, as I was walking in, where I thought “I don’t want this job”. It was the first time I was really having a feeling one way or the other about my current job. So, regardless of what happens, I think I will stay where I am. I had a friend/coworker tell me once that the best way to make a decision is to flip a coin. When the result is revealed, you will have a moment of happiness or sadness and that is your real answer. That interview was my coin flip and I was sad. I’m glad I had the interview though because he helped me critically think about my job and my plans. I think part of what was making me want to leave was that a coworker, whom I adore, is leaving and I couldn’t imagine next year without her. But, I am hopeful we can find someone almost as wonderful to replace her and things will be fine.

3 more weeks of school, then 1 week of graduation activities and such, and then its summer vacation!! Seriously, I could never imagine having a normal job where I didn’t get summers off. I have stuff to do in June and August, but July is pretty much free time for me and I love every single day of it.

Its been so rainy here! We haven’t been able to mow the lawn in at least a week and a half because of all the rain and the standing water in the yard. The grass is getting to the point Calleigh doesn’t like to go potty because when she squats, she gets grass up her bum! She keeps giving us the stink eye every time we let her out. Tomorrow the sun is suppose to return. I’m not sure I remember the sun…its been so long… Sadly, it will still probably take a while before the the standing water abates and we can mow. I’m pretty sure Cal will just start pooping in the house in protest. She is lucky I love her so much.

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Glad to hear you finally decided, Sam. Everything happens for a reason. wow, you seem to have had a wonderful week. I’m curious about Shacking Up by Helena Hunting. Looking forward to your review for it.
Have a wonderful week, Sam. Enjoy your books. ?

    • Yes, I had a pretty amazing week so I am feeling pretty darn good!! I’m kind of on the fence so far about Shacking up….I think I might have to take a pause before I continue to see if its just my mood!

  2. After a week of lovely sunshine, I woke up to rain today, which put a kibosh on my outdoor plans to clear more of the weeds from the patio. So…is the rain a good thing for me, or a bad thing? LOL

Enjoy your new books and your week…and having made a decision about your job.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  3. Sounds like you had a good Teacher Appreciation Week. πŸ™‚ I know my daughter liked giving her teacher gifts. I am glad you have decided about your job. I think your friend’s advice is very sound. We should always listen to our feelings. I hope you get some sunshine soon. I see a little sun poking out from behind the clouds right now. We’re supposed to get more rain today, which would be nice. It’s easy to want rain when you live in a place where it rarely comes. LOL I hope you have a great week, Samantha!

    • The sun was out for a bit today thankfully. The yard is still a giant puddle though. The dogs are so muddy I have to wipe off their bellies when they come in!

  4. Happy Teacher’s Appreciation week!! Yay for winning a gift card. Glad you figured out things with your job and knowing what you want. We have had a lot rain the past few days. I am over it!! Hope it dries up over there. Have a great week!!

  5. Glad you figured out your job issue. At least you tried and that made you come to a realization.

We have bouts of rain, but it’s been really nice this past week.

Hope you have a great week! ~Aleen

  6. Longhorn Steakhouse! I haven’t eaten there in ages lol. Congrats on the gift card! And glad to hear the job situation is clearer to you now. That’s always a good feeling because it can be really hard to know sometimes. Good for you. πŸ™‚

I hear you on the rain, although we don’t have the standing water. It has been wet a lot though.

Yay for upcoming summer vaca! Enjoy your week. πŸ™‚

  7. We celebrated my son’s teachers all last week. It is wonderful to show teachers we care. My son had fun picking out items to give each day. One day was bring your favorite fruit for your teacher another was bring in breakfast. Lots of fun..

We had a wonderful week. The sun was out and it warmed up. I got to spend time outside and use my new laptop outdoors.

Great book haul. Have a wonderful week and happy reading!

  8. Teacher appreciation week sounds awesome! And that’s good that you might’ve made a decision about the job situation and that you want to stay. But hey, if the interview was what it took to realize that, then it’s still good that you did it πŸ™‚

  9. Trust your moment. I had that happen during an interview and stood up and said, I don’t think this job is for me. They were shocked, but it was the best decision I have ever made. I am Glad Teacher Appreciation week was good. STEAK!! wahoo. Enjoy! ope your week is amazing!

  10. Sounds like you got your moment of clarity when you walked in for the interview. It’s a good position to be in, either way you have a job, and interview experience is always useful. I love Karen Rose so I hope you enjoy that book. And bleugh on all that rain, hope you get lots of sun this week!

  11. Well, regardless of how the interview went or if they make an offer or not, at least now you have your own answer – and you know you want to stay put. That’s a good thing. Wish we had some of your rain. We have a wildfire close by and desperately need the rain so conditions aren’t so dry. Plus all the smoke/haze in the air is horrible to breathe in. Ugh.

  12. I love teachers so I love teacher appreciation week! Glad to hear you want to stay where you are. That’s a good place to be while the net great thing in your life comes along I agree that you have the BEST job in the world after being a writer  NOTHING can beat summers off. 
