Non-Bookish News:

Its officially allergy season in SW Ohio! Many of my students arrive each morning looking like they cried all the way to school. The nurse has ordered extra boxes of tissues because each classroom goes through a box a day. I am doubling up on my allergy meds-I have a night time allergy pill and a day time allergy pill. Its kind of ridiculous really!

So, last weekend I thought I scratched my eye. It was super painful and for about 24 hours, it wasn’t getting any better. Then, I looked at it again in the mirror and noticed my contact was scrunched up in the corner of my eye! My eye wasn’t scratched at all-it was the contact that was stuck! I thought my contact fell out when I was rubbing my eye and that’s how I got a scratch. Nope, turns out I didn’t rub my contact out-just bunched it up in the corner. Hooray!

The best news this week was my husband got a new job! It’s about twice as much as he was making so both of us finally felt we could stop stressing so much.

Other than allergy hell, things were pretty low key this week and I really needed that. Just 3 more weeks until spring break so we are all just hanging on.

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Oh Samantha I am so happy for your husband! I know last week you told us you were fighting about money so that should really help! And I am glad you found it was you contact lense that was stuck. Much easier to solve. It’s also allergy season here so we’ll see how it goes for me, hubs and the kids. Have a great week.

  2. Great news on your eye and the new job! Easter is late so spring break is way late for some this year. Ours was at the beginning of this month but we get a long weekend at spring break. And she’s done the first week of May!

I have year round allergies, dust and mold in the winter. But is it already pollen allergies there? Here in NC I haven’t struggled with them yet and we get horrible pine pollen usually more like late April I think. I notice it in my eyes I have to use special drops. My regular Allegra and nasal spray are good for everything else year round. Have a great week! I hope you find some wonderful reads.

  3. It’s allergy season in NJ too. I cannot take any pills, they make me feel terrible, so it’s nasal spray all the way. I have upped it to twice a day though, so I don’t get a head cold again. I hope you are able to find some relief. That is fantastic news about your husband. I hope he enjoys his new job.

  4. Congrats to your husband! What awesome news!! And ow- I’ve had contacts scrunched up in my eye before and it hurts! Glad you didn’t have a scratched cornea though or whatever…

  5. Major congrats to your husband! I know that has to be a major stress relief!! And too funny about the contact – I always have paranoia about whether or not I got my contact out when I didn’t actually hold it in my hand. I’m always afraid it’s going to be stuck in my eye for months lol! I’m glad it wasn’t a scratch or anything serious ! Good luck with the allergies!!
