Whew! It was a tough week. I was late to a meeting and I am NEVER late to things. That threw me off. Then a parent asks if she can share something with me. I say “of course” and she begins to tell me about this weight loss/diet book that she thinks could change my life. I listened politely while dying inside. Its 2022-how can we still think it is okay to make comments on stranger’s appearance in any way? This was after me spending 45 min telling her that her son is such a wonderful kid. All this happened on a Thursday and the week had just been stressful. I have so much to do and there were some complications and I was just DONE. I came home, took an Ativan for my anxiety, and fell asleep in my giant bean bag chair with the puppy.
I had class Tuesday night at 9:00 pm, so I think the lack of sleep was making my emotions high. It amped up the stress. We finished about 10, but then I didn’t fall asleep until 11:00. I get up at 4:30. I am too old to not get enough sleep. It does not go well for me!
The weather is really turning to fall here. Wednesday it was close to 80 degrees, but next week the highs are in the 50’s. I’m ready for it. But, we could really use some rain. It has been dry for so long we were under a red flag fire warning Friday. Also, I am ready for my allergies to chill. Its been insane!
It was a good week for book mail!! Berkley sent a bunch!
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

Hopefully the cooler weather will ease your allergies. I hope you do manage a bit more sleep and feel better. I can’t believe she was telling you about a diet program, completely inappropriate. What is wrong with people? It’s one thing if she was telling you about a great sale on something she knows you like, say books. But this is not that.
Great week you have had. I am sorry that a parent was so rude to you, I can’t ever imagine doing something like that. I do love the cooler temps here. I am definitely ready for cooler temps. We have some great releases coming out this week. Excited to read your review olf the Feehan.
Wow! I am not sure how I would have reacted during that meeting. People really overstep too much these days. Class until 10 pm on a school night is late. I would be tired. I hope this week goes well without any rude encounters.
Ugh, why do people think that’s okay? Especially parents of students? I’m jealous you get mail from Berkley! I would love to be on their list. Oh well, I get a lot from Netgalley and tours I guess. I’m getting ready to start A Cosmic KInd of Love today myself! And will be reading the new Teagan Hunter after that I think. Thanks for visiting my Sunday post earlier! Have a great week!
I’m sorry you had to deal with that rude encounter! I am reading Dark Whisper and enjoying it. It’s a long book. Hope you enjoy the cooler temps and have a better week, Sam!
Oh my goodness, what a week. I am *dumbfounded* at the parent who felt comfortable (and within her rights) to comment on your body/diet. Just. So out of line and inappropriate. I sure hope the weekend was restful and this week is much better!
You get up at 4:30???? And I complain because I get up at 5 AM…. big hugs Samantha and that woman has no tact at all!
How DARE that woman say that to you about the diet book/program?????? I want to punch her in the nose.
Good luck with managing all the stress and not enough sleep. You’re not alone.
