This Week’s Book Haul:
Non-Bookish News:
My summer is over. I go back to work tomorrow. Today I am mourning my last day of summer break.
I took the dogs to the vet on Friday. I have 2 dogs: Calleigh is 60 lbs and Yoda is 80 lbs. Yoda doesn’t like the car, other dogs, or other people. You can imagine what its like getting an 80 lb dog into a car and to a place filled with dogs and people. He was NOT happy with me. He wasn’t happy with the vet either. But, they are all done for a year and we all survived so I’m calling it a success!
I need to get back into “I have a normal job” mode-clean laundry, lunches prepped, etc. Its a hard routine to get back into after 10 weeks of wearing nothing but leggings and t shirts and eating whatever I could scrounge up whenever I got hungry.
My ear is about the same. No improvement. But, as my doctor reminded me, they don’t expect results for awhile. He isn’t even going to check my hearing or see me again until the end of October. So, I’m trying to remember that. Because of my OCD, I fixate on an issue. I will plug my good ear and try to measure my hearing in my bad ear. I convince myself its terrible and not getting any better. I think being back at work will actually help me to focus on other things instead.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

I can’t believe it’s already time for everyone to head back to school! I can imagine it’s going to be a struggle after 10 weeks of not having to think about school. I’m sorry to hear your hearing is not any better. I’m sending you all the healing vibes. I can understand fixating on it though. <3
Have a good week, Samantha!
Thanks for the vibes-I need them!
I’m sorry I’ve been “gone” and missed the issue with your bad ear. I hope school can distract you enough so you don’t notice it until late October and the time just flies by!!! And maybe it’ll stop raining, too! BTW, my brother moved from Liberty Hill to Newport, fyi. He’s officially a Kentuckian (hahahaha) and constantly flooded…
Good luck tomorrow! Here’s to a new school year!!
Hey you!!! Welcome back! Newport is so close to me. And yes, the flooding has been bad lately but hopefully he’s dried out. We haven’t gotten much rain lately.
Oh, getting animals to the vet is a chore! I have trouble with my little little cats, so I can’t imagine an 80lb dog! Glad it’s all done. Going back to work after vacation sucks, even more so after 10 weeks! Hope you transition back easily. At least being busy will take your mind off your ear. It’s hard not stressing over things like that when they impact us so much, but it’s not good for us either.
Blood Truth! I haven’t read one of her BDB books for a while. Just the spinoff ones. Glad to see you enjoyed it. 🙂
I’m not looking forward to going back to 5 day work weeks after working 3 day weeks for the summer so I can only imagine how much worse it is after 10 weeks off!! I hope it all goes smoothly for you.
Well done on the vet visit! I don’t have dogs but I have an 8lb cat that is the DEVIL when it comes to getting her to the vet as she doesn’t like being picked up, doesn’t like enclosed spaces (cat carrier) and doesn’t like people, especially strange people, touching her. I can only imagine how much worse it’d be if she was 80lb like your dog! lol
I remember what that feels like! I teach second grade, but I stopped working when I had kids so I could stay home with them. I’ll go back once they’re all in school, and I am not looking forward to it. Maybe I should have another kid? Prolong the inevitable? 😉
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? ?
Hugs for tomorrow Samantha! My mom was a teacher and I know how hard it was to go back to school sometimes. As you said focusing on something will maybe help you being less stressed about your ear but I so understand how it must be difficult! Have a good firts day tomorrow!
Good luck with the new school year! I remember those first days were tough.
I hope your new year at school goes well. I’m always excited about learning new things, school supplies and setting up routines. I’m craving the normal.
I hope the news year at school will go well. We are all ready for school to start. The summer has been fun and busy. We stayed active. I’m ready to have some me time back. Have a great week.
Have a great reading week, and a wonderful first day back at school!
Aww you poor thing!! Hope you had a fun break and hope this school year is a good one for you. I was reading the Emma Chase book and I thought of you!! 🙂
We have some pretty good releases coming out this week. Its next week that is fully loaded!!
I hope this first week back hasn’t been *too* crazy and stressful! Has to be a shock to the system after a summer off, though. Sounds like your doctor isn’t at all concerned with your hearing at this point, especially since he isn’t even going to *start* checking it until October. I’m sure it’s hard not to dwell on it, though. Hopefully school helps take your mind off of it!
