Non-Bookish News:

I survived Homecoming week! Each day was a ‘dress down’ theme (I teach in a private school, so the kids wear uniforms normally. Dress down days are a BIG deal). Monday-PJ day, Tuesday-Jersey day, Wednesday-Red, White, and Blue, Thursday-Favorite Character, and Friday was our homecoming shirts and a pep rally. We also have the “spirit olympics” during the rally. The kids play silly minute to win it type games and compete for their grade level. Seniors always win (they cheat) but everyone has fun. Its so loud though my ears hurt!

This week is back to normal but I have to be at work on both Saturday and Sunday. So that means I will work 14 days straight. Saturday I have to administer the ACT, then Sunday we have open house. Its gonna be a LONG week.

I’m binging on the new season of Making a Murderer. I’m not sure if Avery is innocent or not (however, I do respect Kathleen Zellner so that does make me more likely to believe he is innocent), but what I find truly appalling is the way Brendan Dassey was treated. As a special education teacher, I am terrified that something like this would happen to a student of mine. What happened to Brendan is so infuriating and I am upset that he is still, many years later, trying to fight it. Have you watched the series? What are your thoughts?

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Glad to see that you survived homecoming week, depending on where you live it can be CRAZY!!! There are some great releases coming out. I love the idea of KA new book though, since there are so many side characters in her books that deserve stories too!!

  2. WOW it’s been a long homecoming week indeed! I had no idea it lasted a whole week! We don’t have this tradition in my country but my tee, ager of a daughter is salivating each time she hears about it LOL Good luck on your 14 days work in a row! I hope you’ll get some rest right after.

  3. I just finished watching Making a Murderer Part 2, I agree with your opinion. I have no idea how Brenden is still in prison but, alas here we are. I really get sucked into shows like that, they just engage my mind and leave me with so many questions! It will be interesting to see what the future holds for those two. I liked your section about New Releases this week as well, very nice ab to cover ratio. Anyway, good luck with the ACT’s and have a good week!

  4. My kids go to a private school and yes…. they take dress down very seriously. Last time my daughter spent hours planning her outfit. And it was just jeans and a t-shirt. (Not even a cute shirt, but a novelty-tee!)

I have never watched any of the Making a Murderer, but I probably should.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

(PS. I love this font, it’s so cute!)

  5. Oh wow I bet dress down week IS a big deal! I didn’t realize you taught in a private school with uniforms. And 14 days straight! Wow.

I haven’t seen Making a Murderer, but there are some Netflix shows I want to get to. Who has time for them all right lol?

    Have a great week ahead.
