Nothin’

I haven’t snagged anything for the past 2 weeks!

Happy New Year everyone!! I took an unintentional 2 week break from the blog. Honestly, I had planned to do the Sunday Post, but just forgot. I have been enjoying my winter break and doing things I enjoy-playing video games, reading, and cuddling with the dogs.
Monday its back to work! This is always a busy time of year. Lots of evaluations to complete, and I am gone for the last week in February to attend the National School Psychology convention in Chicago (Chicago in February is not my top choice, but it is what it is). Even though I don’t live that far away, I’ve actually never been to Chicago! And I love this conference, so I’m excited.
My husband starts his new job tomorrow as well. I’m hoping it all works out. There has been some fall out from his leaving his last job-3 of them quit at the same time, then another employee told the boss that people were talking about the company going under and that’s why they left. So, his boss fired 3 additional people. It was a whole bunch of drama and it was worse because its a small company. Hopefully his new job is less drama. I feel like he has had more drama at his work than I do, and I work with middle schoolers.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday if you celebrate!
I typically don’t set goals or do challenges because I think it impacts my reading in a negative way. But, this year, I am making a conscious choice-read more of what I want. That means less ARCs. I am getting tired of the grind to be honest. When I started, I got caught up in the FOMO of ARCs. Now, I find that I’m accepting ARCs and not really enjoying them. My reading totals have been less and less each year over the past 5 years and I think its in large part due to feeling like I “have” to read specific books. I am hoping this is the year I find my joy again.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you have had an amazing and restful break. Chicago has lots of fun and interesting things. Happy New Year!
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I hope all goes well for your husband, and that the new year is good to you and yours. My daughter always complains about February in Chicago because it’s hard to get people to go out for her birthday. I go to Chicago at least once a year to see the kid. It’s a great city.
I’m glad you were able to enjoy your break! I go back to work tomorrow also and it feels weird. I’m so used to waking up and doing my own thing now.
PS: I just realized I wasn’t officially following you, but I am now!
I love Chicago! ALA is there this summer maybe? I really wish I could go, and then have more time to spend in Chicago. But yeah, not sure February would be the best time to be there with weather! I get exactly what you’re saying about the FOMO with ARCs, I have to stop myself so much these days from taking them when they become available. Monday is back to work for me too, no students till Tuesday at least. Ugh, hopefully your husband’s new job is better, that sounds like he got out at the right time. Time snuggling with dogs is always good and takes precedence over blogging, lol. Have a great week!
Happy New Year Samantha, I’m glad you enjoyed your break.
Good luck to hubby with his new job, and to you with returning to work.
I understand the whole FOMO thing, I do better with structure though.
Wishing you a great reading week
I hope your husband’s first day went well and that he will have less drama Samantha!
