I have reached that point in the summer when I don’t really know what day it is. I love this part of summer. Time has no meaning.

Basically this week was school stuff and superfan episodes of the office. 2 of my classes have several hours of lectures each week to view, so I worked on those for awhile. I actually got a 0 on a quiz this week. I don’t think I have ever in my life gotten a 0. Originally the score was 60% but then she decided to change the answers and drop my score to a 0. It was a “pre-test” too, so its not like she had taught us the info. I’m just angry about it all. As a teacher, I never changed a grade to a LOWER score. If I missed something I should have marked wrong, then that was my mistake and that kid got lucky.

A tornado touched down about 3 miles from my house on Wednesday. It was crazy. We had NO damage from the storm here, but 3 miles away is like a bomb went off. They still don’t have power, many roads are still closed off due to trees and power lines, and the governor came to survey the damage himself. There were only 2 injuries thankfully, and both were minor.

It has stormed almost every day this week actually. It’s been really hot and humid, then it storms in the afternoon. Its a bit like living in Florida, but no ocean. Which just makes it unfair, really.

We took Ranger for his final round of puppy shots on Saturday. He did great and has gained 10 lbs this month. We decided to hit up starbucks for a pup cup and then run to petsmart (he needed a new collar). On the way there, he PEED in the back seat of my car!! UGH! Luckily, I have leather seats and it was in the back seat, so we didn’t have to worry about the mechanics in the front (heated/cooled seats, all electronic seat adjustments). Little stinker. Of course, he is stepping in it and before I can get pulled over, he is covered in pee and tracks it through the car as we get him out. It was kind of comical, but now I have to get the smell out of my Mustang!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. That does seem really unfair about the quiz. I hope the rest of the classes go more smoothly. You have confirmed my commitment to rescuing young or older dogs and not puppies. It seems much more hot & humid this year than previous years. But we haven’t been getting the rain much until yesterday. It looks like we will finally get a few days with some rain.

  2. I would’ve been upset with that grading debacle, too! Doesn’t seem fair. So happy that you didn’t get hit with the tornedo! It’s been hot here, too, but not humid, thank goodness.

I’m looking forward to that Sandra Brown! Jealous you got a physical copy! Happy reading and stay cool, Sam!

  3. WOW that is so scary, I know how intense it can be when it comes to tornadoes. I am glad that you all are safe! We have some great releases coming out this week, and its so exciting.

  4. Okay, I have to say I’m jealous of the whole not knowing what day it is thing. That must be divine. 🙂 How scary that the tornado touched down so close! Thank goodness you had no damage, but it sounds terrible for the others. I’d be mad about the grading, too! That doesn’t seem fair.

  5. I’m glad your house didn’t have damage but feel bad for those who were affected.

I would have been furious about that grade too. I’m not a teacher but I can’t imagine lowering a grade at all, much less lowering it 60 points! I saw that you got a 0 and at first wondered if you inadvertently overlooked an assignment. Lowering a grade that much seems unacceptable.

Oh my goodness, Ranger peed in your Mustang? I would have a hard time laughing that off! It’s not like he knew what he was doing but I’d still be irritated 🙂 We rented a Mustang one time. My husband decided it was his spirit car. He still misses it and we only had it for a long weekend probably 5 years ago!

    Enjoy your week!

  6. Oh man! I’m LMAO about the puppy peeing in the car. Pet ownership has it’s own set of adventures. Sorry about the quiz – as a former teacher I also struggle with the idea of lowering grades! at least it was only a pretest! Hope you’re continuing to have a great break!
