Non-Bookish News:

I know there are a few other teachers out there: Do you all spend your summer doing all your doctor appointments? The dentist, the eye doctor, etc. I feel like I have another appointment each week! But, at least I get them all out of the way.

Today I will be at my parents house. My moms side of the family is having our annual get together. My cousin, who lives in SC (we are in OH), teaches at the collegiate level so summers are the only time she makes it back to town. Plus, we have family in KY and IN so summers are just easier for everyone. I love my moms side of the family! I have 2 cousins (who are grown with kids of their own) that I used to nanny for every summer while I was in college, another cousin who is an author (if you like PNR check out her book Semi-Charmed!), and then all the super cute kids! Plus, my aunts and uncles are great, my grandpa is hilarious, and I get to see my parents (I only live an hour away, but I don’t see them as often as I should).

Yesterday I met my 2 college roommates for lunch and shopping. I love these two people so much! For awhile, we were scattered and far away. Amy was in the Navy, I was in NC and Chrissy was the only one still in Ohio. But now, roughly 15 years after we lived together we are all back in the same city. We try to get together a few times a year and I love those days. Plus, Amy is having a baby in September so Chrissy and I are excited to spoil that baby!!!!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I’ve been curious about Alice Clayton’s books, but have seen mixed reviews. I guess I could try one and see what happens.

Enjoy your week, and get through those appointments. You can always take a book for the waiting room. That works for me.

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  2. Your cousin is Isabel Jordan? That book cracked me up so much lol. I have the second one on my kindle but just haven’t read it yet. And that’s awesome that you’re still close with your college roomies! I’m stil close with one of mine (ok, it’s only been a few years, but still) even though we live across the country.

I’ve also been picky with review copies lately, hardly requesting anything, being choosier about what I accept from authors, etc. I have some backlisted books I really want to get to, so I’m trying to get through most of my review copies first.

Anyway, have fun at your family get together and have a great week!

  3. What is it with people and wanting to spoil babies? Haha.

I can imagine having to plan all your appointments in the Summer of the few weeks off throughout the school year. My mother in law is a teacher but she works 3/4 days so she can always plan an appointment on her day off.

  4. Oh your family sounds so fun! I hope you enjoy them all. Yea for seeing old friends.
I hate doctors appointments. Right now I am getting all the dental visits done on Wednesdays (my day off). (i have 4 kids so those appointments are many and time consuming) The things that really sicks is that I have mandatory 2 hours of therapy with my son each week as well which I do on Wednesday. My day off is just more work. I’ll be happy when all the dental visits are done.

  5. What an awesome weekend you had!!! And I have to commend you on being more selective on the review books you pick. I’ve always kind of done that so I could avoid having to write bad reviews but this year has been horrible. I’ve done the usual picking but the books have been less than stellar, I think. Or I’ve changed my methodology. I have no idea which one it is but I’ve more DNF’s and not-good reviews this year than any of my other 4 years blogging!!! WTH??? It’ll make for an interesting wrap up at the end of the year, that’s for sure!!!

Enjoy those doctor visits (yeah) 🙁 Have a good rest of the week anyways!!!!
