Thursday I had my appointment with my audiologist. Thankfully, my hearing hasn’t gotten any worse. That is always the fear! We ordered new hearing aids, but I won’t be able to get them until August 18th. The office is just really busy (they are down an audiologist, and its hard to find audiologists because not a lot of people go to school for it). So, I have to start the school year with my current aids, which is only a problem because they aren’t charging correctly. This is the drawback of rechargable aids. When they don’t charge, I don’t have any other recourse. Its why I wanted to switch back to battery aids. Hopefully, when these come in, they work and fit well. Otherwise, I have to send them back, wait for another pair, and schedule another appointment. The only feature I really required is that they connect to my phone so I can make adjustments. So, fingers crossed that these are perfect!

Thursday afternoon we had my husbands appointment with the eye specialist as well. When he had his annual eye exam, they found a hole in his eye that could indicate macular degeneration. So, they sent him to the specialist. I really liked this doctor-he was calm and explained everything very well. After looking at new images and examination, the doctor said yes, there is a small hole/tear, but at this point, its not a concern. He went over the warning signs of a major tear/hole and what to do if that occurs. He said its actually very common for people between the ages of 40-70 to have a tear or hole that if left untreated to lead to macular detachment. So, its all good for now.

Saturday we went to the zoo. My husband loves the zoo and he loves his fancy camera and a reason to take pictures. It was a nice day-mid 80’s, low humidity. According to my watch, I had 100 exercise minutes from our 3 hour visit! However, by the end, my body was done. My hips and knees hurt a lot. I should have taken some advil earlier, but I hadn’t eaten anything and I didn’t want the advil to upset my stomach. Lesson learned! But, it was a good time. We did decide to get a zoo membership. Its only 30 minutes from our house and they are open year round.

This week is my last full week of summer break. This makes me sad! But, ultimately, I love my job. I’m sad I won’t get to spend all day with the dogs, playing video games, and watching tv. The first week of August I only have 1 day of work, so that’s most of the week off. But, I know after this week, I need to get into work mode! I need to find my work bag, office keys, and other essentials!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Yep, last week of break for me as well! I’m ready to go back and try out my new job! We used to have a zoo membership, haven’t in a while. I do miss going all the time. I have noticed some ringing and that I keep feeling like my tv isn’t as loud even though it’s set at the same volume I always have it. I probably need to get my hearing checked. Hope you get to enjoy your last full week of summer break!

Your break went so fast! At least you got stuff done and did some fun stuff too. That was great new about the hub’s eye. I hope all goes well with the new hearing aides.

  3. Glad you are enjoying your break and have good news on your husband. Hope your hearing aids turn out well. Crazy that school starts so early in August as it’s still so hot. Ours started later in
August. We also love the zoo. My daughter’s next school break is the last week of August so we might try to take in a zoo.

  4. I hope you enjoy your last week on break and that everything works out well with your hearing aids. I am waiting to get “If Books Could Kill” from my library!
