Non-Bookish News:

Another low key week in the life of a teacher on summer vacation! I  had a blood draw on Monday morning so of course I felt crappy for the rest of the day. I have the WORST reaction to blood draws. I’m not freaked out by needles or blood; I just pass out as soon as they finish. Every time!! Sometimes it happens after a shot. So, I have to lay down to have the blood taken and then stay there for 15 min. Then they have to check my blood pressure to see if its normal. I hate feeling like its a big deal-you know, like “why can’t you just sit in the chair like everyone else?”. But, after the last time I tried to sit, I passed out in the hall 2 seconds after I stood up and got whiplash from smacking my head. And that was after only taking 1 vial of blood!! Ugh, such a hassle. But, it is what it is!

How was your 4th of July? It was dangerously hot here-heat warnings and everything. We stayed inside and watched TV! Plus, my dogs aren’t thrilled with fireworks. They aren’t nearly as freaked as many people’s dogs, but they are mildly concerned. Calleigh has to sit on me when she hears them. Once she settles down on me, she is totally fine.

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Me and needles are a NO. I usually vomit bile before they even start and pass out. I have to have my draws from my hand and done with a child’s needle, so they take FOREVER. I am so excited about the new Christina Lauren. I cannot wait until that one hits my weekly TBR.

  2. Yay to summer vacay! Isn’t it wonderful not to go to work?
I totally understand about blood draws. I’m a nurse and I can do every for someone else, but I’m a horrible patient. My worst fear is actually the fingersticks because of my childhood fears so… I can take blood draws and injections better!

Glad you had an awesome 4th!

  3. I am so sorry to hear that donating blood doesn’t make you feel good. I have only donated plasma (which pays super good in Utah) but I always feel out of it afterwards. So I Imagine I would probably handle blood being drawn even worse. Hope you are feeling better.

We did have some great releases this week right? Winter Kiss by Deborah Cooke is fantastic. She writes yummy dragon shifters. I do want to try this latest series by J. Kenner soon. I hear such great things about these books.

  4. Last week was low key. No summer camps, just swim classes for us in the evening. This week we have Spy Camp and that sounds fun!! I grabbed Archangel’s Prophecy too. Can’t wait to read. Have a great week and happy reading.

  5. I’m sorry that you have bad reactions when having blood drawn. I have no issue with blood getting drawn if it’s from me. But if it’s one of my kids, I start panicking and I start crying. Both of my daughters were severely anemic so we had to have blood drawn several times, I made my mom go back and have them do the blood tests because I couldn’t handle it. I actually had an entire day to myself and I’ve been bored. I actually had time to watch a movie and I honestly couldn’t tell you the last time I sat and watched a movie by myself.

  6. Pink! I remember dancing to her CD with the kid I used to nanny. Her music is fun. My dog doesn’t like fireworks. She hides and barks from her hiding place. She’s so brave. 🙂 I hope you have a good week!

  7. I love seeing all the covers! Firestorm looks great. And yay for Pink! I like her too… 🙂

Glad you had a nice 4th! Yeah I always feel for the dogs with the fireworks popping off all over. My cats weren’t too thrilled either lol. And it’s been SO hot.

Hope you have a great week!

Wow that is a lot of books releasing this week! That stinks about the blood draw. My dog isn’t thrilled about fireworks either! Have a great week!

  9. Another great week in releases, woot! That really sucks about getting blood drawn but I agree that it is what it is, you deal with it and move on. Oh, the life of an adult.

    Happy reading this week, Sam!

  10. Sorry about the blood draw. There was only one time I had a reaction like that and it was because the needle was so big and I was pregnant with my first. OMG, I said to the lady drawing my blood – I am going to pass out and she said oh no you’ll be fine and I said oh no and passed out. So, it does happen. My dogs don’t like the fireworks either but they were good about it this year. Have a great week of reading!
