I have been enjoying the summer break from work! I’m spending my days with the dogs (who vacillate between napping and running the backyard 500) and enjoying doing nothing. I got my hearing aid back and it was able to be fixed so I am thrilled about that! I had my endoscopy on Friday and it went well. Now I only have to have one every 3 years. Monday I have my eye doctor appointment. I think my prescription has changed a bit because I am certainly not seeing as well up close.
My husband’s father passed away last summer. He didn’t have a will and the house and property he and his wife (my husband’s stepmother) was in my father in laws name only (purchased before he married her). So, the house is in probate. My husband and his stepmother have never been close, and this whole process is difficult. She shut him out immediately after the funeral, and my husband was really hurt by that. There were things my father in law had previously indicated he wanted my husband to have that his stepmother has kept from him. Now, she needs him because he is entitled to half the house and property. Its just a messy situation.
I’m working on our back yard-clean up, pulling weeds, getting rid of poison ivy, etc. With the dogs, I spend a lot more time out there. Its exhausting! Also, we are starting to get into the really hot days of summer in Ohio (its suppose to be in the 90’s all week). So, I might pivot into inside projects. Unfortunately, despite the heat, the dogs want to go out frequently and I’m still afraid they will escape, so I go with them every time.

yes it seems like the heat is here. We are 90s but the humidity hasn’t been as bad as I expected some days. I’m glad you are getting some time to relax and handle appts. Sorry about your husband’s issues. The dogs are loving having you home I’m sure.

My dogs keep wanting to just go out and stand in this heat. That is not fun! I know my stepmom is still dealing with trying to get her mother’s house sold and her mother died last summer. One of her brothers lives in the house, lived with and basically kind of mooched off my grandma and he wants the house, but there’s no way he can get a loan. So they’re trying to get figured out what to do still. Enjoy your relaxing time!
Glad to hear you are enjoying your break and that all medical things went well. That’s a very stressful situation for your husband. I hope it all works out.
So sorry to hear of your husband’s situation – it’s always tough when there isn’t a Will. And as for those temperatures – as we’ve been having wet, windy weather with the temps mostly in the high 50s and early 60s, your heat sounds dreadful. Here’s hoping that when the heat strikes – the dogs will decide they’d rather stay indoors:)). Have a good week, Samantha.
