I got nothing. I spent my week watching training videos and no one else should be subjected to that.
ARCs thanks to the authors and publishers:
Audio ARC thanks to Penguin Audio:
I was off work this past week and it was nice! I had a LOT of training videos to watch since I put it off until the last minute (blood borne pathogens, child abuse recognition and reporting, etc). I also had to work on my professional development goals because they are due Monday. Again, I waited until the last minute. Finally, I lesson planned! It was a pretty low key week really, and I loved that.
I still haven’t figured out how to pay for my medication. I could wait until I have enough in my HSA to pay for it ($950-so I won’t have it available in my HSA until mid October) but I really don’t want to go that long without it. I already haven’t taken the medication since early August. So, on Tuesday I will have about $400 in my HSA and the manufacturer has a $100 off coupon. I just need to find the other $400! The good thing is my deductible is $2000 and once I refill this twice, I will have hit my deductible and then not have to pay full price. I love my new job and it was totally the right move for me, but I miss my good insurance from my previous job.
That was my week! Tomorrow its back to work! The weather has been nice too-highs in the 70’s-and it looks to be sticking around for at least the next 10 days. I’m hoping we don’t have a 2nd summer heat wave or anything. September/October in Ohio can be finicky. Sometimes it snows on Halloween. Sometimes its 80 degrees. You just never know!
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

It’s nice you had a week off. I hope you can resolve the medication payment soon!
I am glad you can still think after watching so many mind numbing training videos. We have “mandates” all the time at my job, and it can be punishing. When I was teaching, I had to do those trainings in person, so at least you could zone out without anyone noticing.
Ugh I remember the days of watching them in the auditorium as part of our inservice days. That sucked!
My husband works in healthcare and has to do tons of mind-numbing training. It was yearly when he worked a permanent job in one hospital but since we decided to start taking travel/contract positions, he has to do them every time he starts a new hospital, which is about every three months. He hates that part of traveling! I hope you find a way to get your medication soon. Enjoy your week!
Reading this makes me realize we are really lucky in our country as far as health insurance goes Samantha. I hope you’ll find a solution! Thinking of you. xx
It’s great you had this early week off to get to all the things. I hope you are able to figure things out – health insurance just shouldn’t be tied to your job. I’m glad you are enjoying the new job though.
So sorry about your difficulties regarding the medication costs, Samantha:(. I hope you are able to find a solution before too long. And I am mightily sympathetic about those grotty training videos – I LOATHE them, but then I’m spoilt, as I recall Inset Training Days when a proper human walked you through the issues you needed to learn. You certainly got an impressive haul of books this week – I hope that you manage to get a chance to read some of them in the coming week:)
Glad to hear you love your new job but sorry that came with an inferior insurance plan. Nice that you’re getting cooler temps!
“no one else should be subjected to that” Right? This made me laugh. Nothing puts me to sleep faster than a training video lol. I mean, I know they’re important but yeah I would probably put ’em off too…
Medication costs can be so crazy. I just don’t get it. I hope you find a solution though that works for you. And you’re right about the weather. Here in Michigan it’s the same. Hope your week ahead is a good one!
i’m sorry to hear about you issues with medication. i won’t get on a rant, but i think a country as rich as ours doesn’t need to make someone choose whether or not to buy a necessary medication. glad you are good with your job. that counts for a lot
It’s downright criminal that people have to make such choices about needed medications. It just boggles my mind that there isn’t a better plan/system in place.
I had to laugh at the title of one of your freebies: You. Me. Bed. Now. LOL
I hope you manage to get your meds sorted out, we are really spoiled here in Scotland all our prescriptions are free though we pay for it through our national insurance contributions.
Have a good week.
I haven’t read books yet but wow the premise sounds so amazing.
