  •   No Cap by Lani Lynn Vale
  •   Nightfall by Penelope Douglas
  •   The Five Year Lie by Sarina Bowen

eARCs thanks to the authors and publishers:

The countdown is on: 17 days of school left! The kids are out of control. Like, there has been a lot of gross disrespect and in one instance, something illegal that we had to get the cops involved in. Now that state testing is done its just impossible to keep the kids attention and they are more than happy to let us know what they really think. Its a little better at the high school because they know they have to pass the class or they will have to retake it. But, in middle school, nothing happens if you fail. So, send chocolate, wine, vodka, whatever you can to your friends who work in schools right now. We are not okay.

I’ve been working on securing the fence as much as possible so we don’t have any escapees. My war on the rabbits continues. I haven’t seen any this week, so maybe it is working?! I’m cautiously optimistic. I also haven’t had any new damage to the fence areas from the rabbits.

My poor dog Calleigh has a tumor on her toe. So, she will have to have surgery to amputate it. The vet said its not a big deal at all and after, she will be pain free. She is 14 years old, so we don’t have a lot of time left with her and I will do anything to keep her happy for a long as I can. She is really my first ‘baby’. We don’t have kids, and she was the first dog we rescued when she was just 8 weeks old.  So, think good thoughts for Calleigh!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

I so hear you on those last few weeks before school gets out for the summer. Though i never heard that if you fail a class it does not effrect you in middle school doesn’t it drag your gpa down and look really bad on your transcips and i know our disctrict would force you to stay back if you failed everything. Anyway my kid in college now so i kind out of the loop lower grade level wise. I can send you a card to cheer you up if you like. I just need your mailing info and any other teachers you know need a pick me up. I glad i don’t work in a school i just not sure i could handle it. Have a great reading week.

  2. Sorry to hear about you students. We still have almost two months of school ahead of us..
Good to hear the rabbits are staying out.
So sorry to hear about Calleigh. Hope the surgery helps her with her pain.

“We’ll just amputate, no big deal.” Yes it its! It’s a big deal. I hope all goes well for the pup. It always surprised me how difficult the middle schools were. You would think they would be a little easier because the schools are smaller, but no, that age group tends to be a nightmare. Good luck with the rest of the school year.

  4. Seventeen days and counting! I wonder who is more ready for the year to end – students or staff? I’ve often heard teachers comment that middle schoolers are far worse than high schoolers. Something about that age, I guess. Hang in there… it’s almost over! 🙂
