Freak Show is book two in the Welcome to the Circus series featuring Caristonia. All the siblings have weird-ish names, so I was glad when Slone started calling her Ari. It was just easier in my head.
Ari has a twin sister who is bat crap crazy. She is also MEAN. These siblings show that not all families are meant to be around each other all the time. After another issue with her sister, Ari takes some time off from the circus and travels with the Longview Liner’s football team and Slone. These two have a fast love, but both have complicated lives. Ari is tied to the circus and her family, especially with some of her sister’s issues. Slone is a single dad and a professional football player. I really loved them together and loved his daughter and teammates as well. Plus, we get a cameo by Banner and Perry, and Trance and Viddy! If you have read all of Lani’s books (like I have), you love these little cross over moments.
The story deals with some serious issues and I appreciated how all the characters handled it. Slone was always protective of Ari, which is something I adore!

I really love the idea behind this book and this series. Sounds like they have a unique dynamic. and I adore the circus theme. Although the covers are kinda weird lol But I have enjoyed this author in the past so very curious about this one.
I got sent the e-galley for this one, but I’ve just not really read or reviewed any of this author in a while. This one did sound kind of good. Your review makes me think I might give it a chance at some point. Thanks for sharing!
