I got nothing!
Physical Copies thanks to the authors, PR companies, and publishers:
We had our first frost here in SW Ohio. I am ready for it for a few reasons. First, I need it to kill all the allergens still thriving outside (I’m looking at you, ragweed). Second, these mosquitos have to go. Finally, I am ready for cold weather. Alas, it is Ohio so it won’t last. Next week its suppose to be close to 80 degrees again.
Work was good. I’m very busy but I am enjoying it all. I’m trying to look ahead at some of the assignments for my portfolio so I can start now (behavior case study, academic case study, etc). On Friday, my University Supervisor told us (me and the 3 other interns she supervises) that she won the intern lottery. She said we were the highest ranked students in the program and the other supervisors are already expressing concerns with internships, etc. So, that made me feel VERY good. I really adore the other 3 girls in my supervision group too. Overall, things are going well.
I had an appointment with my psychiatrist this week. My OCD and anxiety have been well controlled with medication and I am really happy about that. I happened to mention that I think I have some stress at night because I grind my teeth. She said it could be serotonin syndrome and that we might need to look at lowering the dose of one of my medications. Honestly, that was enough to give me stress. I think that things are going so well I am afraid to mess with a good thing. She told me I didn’t have to do it now, and we could consider it again in 3 months.
A about a month ago, Amazon suddenly revoked my ability to review. Now, I buy a LOT of stuff on Amazon. My reviews are a mix of non-verified and verified purchases. I emailed them as suggested in the notification and got nowhere. So, I hopped on the chat with a person and they assured me they would make sure I got a response from the team that handles reviews. I did, and they said I had to spend $50 a year. I laughed because I had literally just spend over $50 THAT DAY! Trust me, my spending isn’t the problem. I emailed them back and after a few rounds of back and forth, they said it was a mistake and they would reinstate my reviews. I have heard stories for years about bloggers losing the ability to review on Amazon and was crushed when it happened to me. I’m so grateful I got it back and not just because I review books. I review LOTS of things I purchase on amazon.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!
The Amazon review thing is ridiculous because it never seems to be any of the people who are posting nonsense reviews or hateful reviews. I mean I know we need all the honest reviews, good or bad, but some are just hateful and I don’t think necessary at all. I’m glad you were able to get it reinstated! We had some frost nearby me, but not in my area. I’m so ready for bugs to be dead. But we’ve got 80 degree weather again today and tomorrow I think. Ugh. I hope you have a good week!
I’m happy your internship and work are going so well. I loved the dead ragweed and bugs in Minnesota. We are still nice here and still have more garden veggies to produce. That Amazon thing is scary. It’s part of why I don’t review there unless the author requests it. I stick to Goodreads, Facebook, the blog and Twitter.
What great feedback from your supervisor! It’s one thing to enjoy your job and feel like you’re doing well, but that kind of encouragement goes a long way. I have heard so many stories about reviewers getting banned on Amazon. What’s crazy is that it seems so arbitrary. And I think you are actually the first person I know of that had their reviews reinstated.
It looks like you had some solid reading there, and I can’t wait for your review of Dark Whisper. I am looking forward to the Meghan Quinn and Terry Spear novels. After the third book in the Katee Robert series, I am not sure if I will read her anymore, but we shall see. I am ready for cooler weather, we haven’t had frosts yet except in the mountains which is why we have changing leaves up there, but it will happen soon I am sure of it. This summer heat was bad this year and I can’t wait for like 7 months of cooler weather. I prefer cold weather over hot weather any day of the week. oh wow, I didn’t know that Amazon did that. I don’t review on there that much. Mostly for indie or self published authors as they need them the most because I never know when a review will get approved or denied. I am happy that you got that all worked out though.
That Amazon thing is so weird (and I had no idea you needed to spend a certain amount of money to be able to review things.) Congratulations on being such an amazing intern. It must feel good knowing you made the right decision to pursue this. The temperatures are up and down in NJ too. We went from having the heat on in the AM to the A/C in the evening. Layers, I just wear layers.
I am glad to hear everything is doing good in your life and also that yiu can review on Amazon again.
I gave up on them bc they deleted all my reviews.
