What I Found Online:
- Nick shares the 2018 YA books she is willing to go broke for over at Nick and Nereyda’s Infinite booklist!
- And while you are over there, check out why Nereyda feels she sucks at blogging (oh my gosh I can so relate to some of her points! Except I blog alone so I don’t even have anyone to pick up my slack!)
- Renee at Addicted to Romance gives us her 2018 Resolutions (and I can so relate!)
- Geybie has another great ‘Recommend Me’ post about Fighter romances!
- Zeee at I heart romance and YA discusses how awesome dual POV is in contemporary romance (and she is spot on!)
This Week’s Book Haul:
Non-Bookish News:
I got my snow day!! Monday we got some ice so no school for me! Then, Friday, we got snow in the afternoon so we had an early dismissal! Monday the 15th is MLK day so we don’t have school but we are suppose to get more snow that morning. I am one very happy teacher!
Even with it being a short week, it was a stressful time at work. Its the end of the quarter and everyone is cranky (adults, kids, everyone!). I had a less than friendly run in with a coworker and I hated it. I don’t like confrontation at all! Because of my OCD, I really tend to perseverate on these types of interactions and its just so frustrating.
I had my endocrinologist appointment Thursday. As I suspected, my TSH was higher than normal. However, it wasn’t high enough to warrant a med increase. The thing about Hashimoto’s is that your numbers swing like this. My thyroid has been pretty well managed so the swings don’t happen often, but when they do, its super noticeable to me. So, I have to make a few changes to my diet (fewer carbs, more veggies) to see if that helps. She also ordered a cortisol test. So, I have to get up at midnight two different times and spit into a little vial. How strange is that?
One of my goals this year is to up my Instagram game. I have been taking lots of pics and working with other romance bloggers to help build up my IG skills. I find I am really enjoying taking and staging pictures; however, I do NOT have the same artistic eye that others do. It certainly doesn’t come naturally to me…like at all. But, I’m going to keep trying! Are you on IG? Have any tips you want to share with the desperately unartistic like myself?!
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!
I hope the change in medicine helps you. Spitting in a vial is little weird, but the doctors knwo what they are doing. So, spit on! My daughter has decided that she will be my picture taker for Instagram. She has plans to get all kinds of little things to go in the picture for around the books this week. She’s always enjoyed taking picture, that might be why she has almost 2000 followers, and I have like 75. lol… Have fun with it! HAve a great weekend, and enjoy the day off tomorrow. π
It’s always so weird when you have a week where you’ve received nothing new, isn’t it?! I feel like I’ve done something wrong when that happens.
Snow days are my favorite, I love spending the day with the kids and watching the snow, however I do hate shoveling it.
I am on the hunt this year for an endocrinologist for my son. We think he has thyroid but I am taking my kids to a new doctor so I hope she can recommend one or do it herself to check and see if he has it or not. His meds make his thyroid levels a little high.
I hope you have a great week, Samantha! Happy Reading! ox
Yay for snow days! Always nice to get a little time off… and sorry to hear about the work conflict. That can be tough.
It does feel a bit off when there’s no book haul, right? We get WAY too used to new books I think lol.
Have a great week! π
No book haul? Lol-ing a little because I picked up two books from your freebie friday post last week π (I’d had Drop-Dead Sexy on my TBR list FOREVER and was SOOO excited to see that it was on Freeibe) Good luck getting through the last of the semester – hopefully the time away with snow/ice days gives everyone some time away to settle down π
Ah, girl, it’s snowing here this Sunday. I”m sorry to hear about your health. It sounds like everyone has some sort of sickness these days. I have to think what doesn’t kill ya, will make you stronger. Have a great Monday and rest of the week!
Glad you had a lovely snow weather! Sorry you had to deal with rude coworkers and students. I had to deal with that on my job and it wasn’t pleasant at all. I hope you’re doing well!
I am afraid I don’t have much of the staging gene either. I am terrible with instagram, but I use it now and then. I wish you luck mastering it. I know you can do it! Yay for snow days! We don’t get those here at all. I do have Monday off for the holiday though and my daughter and I are looking forward to it. My husband, unfortunately, has to work. I hope you have a great week, Samantha!
Good luck with all your tests. I hope you are feeling 100% soon. Sorry to hear about all the snow. I despise it, and am happy that the snow they thought we were originally getting is now gone from the forecast. Your Instagram game is better than mine. I don’t like clutter, so I have like no props. My co-bloggers are so much better at the pictures, but they have no time.
Yay for snow day! Although I’m sorry about the confrontation with the coworker :-/ And that sounds tough the way your illness changes so much. I have no insta tips since I don’t even use it lol. I have enough to do w/ my blog and Twitter and reading, no time or energy for taking photos π
I’m playing the med hustle game for my thyroid. Hopefully we’ll soon get the right one for me. Looks like you had a great reading week. And no new books. Funny how that can feel good sometimes. LOL Gotta love those snow days!
Ya for Snow Days!! We are off school on Monday too. A long three day weekend. I was one happy momma when my boy went back to school. I got to dive into some review books I’ve had for a while now. The holidays don’t allow any me reading time, so I’m so glad schools back in. Take care and have wonderful week.
Iβm glad you got your snow day. Sorry about the cranky people, though. I wish I was good at Instagram. I just started, and I definitely donβt have photography skills. Have a great week!
Yay for snow days! That’s unfortunate that you had a run in with a co-worker! It does stress me out if something like that happens at work. Hope the situation is resolved. I’ll have to check out Nalinii Singh’s Bonds of Justice. I have Keep Her Safe and the book just isn’t working for me. Have a great week, Samantha! π
Wow no new books!! Lots of snow days huh. We are supposed to get more snow Tuesday so we will see. Oh I have no IG skills at all. I do like taking pictures too. Hope you have a great week!
We have a long weekend too! Yay! So happy to have an extra day to rest! π
I am on IG, too! One of the best advice I can give you is practice, practice, practice. Also, follow your favorite bloggers and try to copy their style to help you create your own style.
I have the same issue with Instagram. I would LOVE to take beautiful bookish photos like so many others do, but I’ve come to realize I just don’t have the eye for it. I’ve pretty much given up at this point.
Huzzah for snow days! I used to love them, both when I was teaching and when I was homeschooling. Sometimes I give myself a snowday now, too — even though I work from home. Hey, everyone needs a fun day once in a while, right?
Had to chuckle about your “no book haul” comment I never know whether to be relieved or disappointed when I don’t have any new books. Usually both, TBH.
I know what you mean about fluctuating TSH. (Boy, do I know. I have Hashimoto’s, too.) Thankfully, mine seems to have subsided for the last few years, and has been pretty stable with no dosage changes, but I was getting some wild swings for a while. Not fun. I hope yours sorts itself out soon.
Have a great week, and have fun Instagramming! I’m trying to up my IG game, too, but between not having a great eye for staging book photos, and not having good lighting, and not having TIME, I’m not getting much of anywhere. So I wish you the best of luck!
