Non-Bookish News:

Thursday is surgery day! I am a bit nervous…okay mildly terrified. The surgery is officially called a tympanoplasty. Basically, the surgeon will cut behind my ear so he can pull the ear forward and access the ear drum. Then he will graft cartilage to correct the hole in my ear drum. After the surgery, I have to be extremely careful to not do anything that could cause the graft to fail. So, no blowing my nose, I have to sneeze with my mouth open, I have to keep the ear dry, I can’t do anything that increases pressure on the ear. However, if it works, I could regain some hearing in my left ear. I’m hopeful, but still scared. I have to get to the hospital by 5 am that morning and should be home around 1-2. The surgery is scheduled for 3 hours.

This past week was chill. I had lunch with my dad on Wednesday. I love our lunches. My dad is great! I went on several walks with the dogs when possible, but yall, we have gotten SO MUCH RAIN. There were flash flood warnings and landslides. My backyard has standing water that birds are actually bathing in. Hopefully this week we can dry out a little. The road where the landslide occurred is still closed. Thank goodness no one was hurt!

I’m having lunch with 2 coworkers on Tuesday and I am super excited!!! I miss these two when we are out for the summer. We text each other all the time. Also, I get to meet the babies (one of women just had twins!)!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Good luck with the surgery. I hope it goes well, you heal quickly, and it takes care of your hearing issues. True story – everyone sends me sloth vids and pics. My daughter adores them, and you know, it’s our thing.

  2. Good Luck with your surgery! I will be thinking about you on Thursday! Glad you had a chill week and OMG the rain is insane,. It’s like it never lets up!
I hope this week is great and your recover is quick! Happy Reading!

  3. OMG Samantha I hope everything goes well with the surgery. And I would also be nervous even if I know they must perform that kind of surgery all the time. I wil pray for you!l

  4. Aw that sloth video is so cool!

Good luck with the surgery! I hope it restores some hearing for you. I have an issue with my ear as well- Meniere’s disease I was told- and had some hearing loss on the one side as well as bad vertigo, so I can definitely sympathize with ear problems. I hope your procedure goes great!!!

    Have a great week. 🙂

  5. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your thoughts on Justified. I read Unbroken but haven’t started Justified yet. The sloth video is so adorable!
I’ll be thinking good thoughts for you this week! I so hope the surgery goes well and that it brings you as much improvement as possible.
