The rules: no kissing on the mouth, no staying the night, no telling anyone, and above all… No falling in love.
Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. Easy right?
Too bad he’s committed to making her break every rule…
Football has been good to Drew. It’s given him recognition, two National Championships, and the Heisman. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else. But there’s one problem: she's shut him down. Completely.
That is until a chance encounter leads to the hottest sex of their lives, along with the possibility of something great. Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. Now it’s up to Drew to tempt her with more: more sex, more satisfaction, more time with him. Until she’s truly hooked. It's a good thing Drew knows all about winning.
All’s fair in love and football…Game on.
New Adult/Contemporary Romance with a HEA - Recommended for readers 17 and older.
Title: The Hook Up
Author: Kristen Callihan
The Hook Up was a wonderful surprise book for me!
1. Anna is the best female character I have read in a book in such a long time. I loved that she was insecure. Some people find that annoying or whatever, but I think its the most real thing a writer could write. Anna is still dealing with self confidence issues from her teen years (I can relate to that one!) and she is insecure about what others think of her. So, dating the star QB brings a lot of unwanted attention. And, lets me honest, girls looking to hook up with a hot athlete can be MEAN. So, reading about Anna’s struggle was so realistic to me. I just fell in love with her. And, she has curly red hair. I gotta love that as a fellow curly red head! No one writes about the struggles of truly curly hair. I was thrilled to hear about Anna’s struggles. Seriously, you have no idea how difficult it is to be without the proper tools for hair management when you have curly hair. The struggle is real people.
Overall, I thought The Hook Up was great. But, I didn’t really ‘click’ with Drew. I can’t put my figure on it, but I just didn’t believe him. Maybe he was too good? I’m not sure what it was but I wanted to like him. Alas, no. But, I loved the story and Anna enough that this book was still pretty awesome. Don’t let my dislike of Drew deter you from reading it. Its probably just me!
I agree with you. This book didn’t click with me either. It was nice enough to complete it but not so much that I would want to pick it up again
I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one! People RAVE about books sometimes when I’m like “meh, its okay” and I begin to think there is something wrong with me!
