ABRAHAM DAVIS—Honest Abe to his friends—IS IN OVER HIS HEAD...

He’s a fixer and a do good-er. The all-knowing, resident "grandfather" on the wrestling team who everyone relies on to fix their problems. His teammates go to him for everything; advice, homework, or when they need a sober driver at three in the morning--whether he likes it or not.

Abe’s current mission is easy: mend his roommates broken heart by helping him find a girlfriend on the LoveU app--without getting caught in the lie...

SKYLAR GABRIEL. IS. OVER. IT.

Over her bad grades. Over her meddling older brother and his two best friends. And over dating douchebags. What she wants to know is: where have all the nice guys gone?

She longs for a handsome, sweet, and honest guy who can make her laugh. In one last ditch effort to prove that he exists—Skylar turns to LoveU.

On her worst day, Skylar has no filter (it’s a miracle she hasn’t been ditched mid-date).
On her best, she’s as wholesome, and sweet, as pie.
On Thursday? She matches with Abraham Davis’s roommate.

Skylar Gabriel is falling for the wrong guy—she just doesn’t realize it yet.

Why?

BECAUSE ABE DAVIS IS A LIAR.

The Lying Hours gives us another not-a-douchebag douchebag! Abe is such a nice guy and his intentions are to help his roommate get over a break up. So, he pretends to be JB (his roommate) on a dating app. The problem is, he really starts to fall for Skyler and she doesn’t know who he is. And, JB is the real douchebag of the book.

Skyler is totally drawn to the JB she “meets” on the dating app, but when they meet IRL, she is not as enamored. She is enamored with his roommate, Abe. He seems like just her type! Abe knows as soon as he meets Skyler IRL she is his dream girl but what can he do after all the time he spent getting her to like JB?

I have to say, this book reminded me of the movie Roxanne with Steve Martin. Abe is the one making Skyler fall for him, but she thinks JB is saying all the right things on the app. Obviously this leads to some drama and tension. Abe feels bad about his deception and Skyler feels bad that she is lusting after JB’s roommate! Despite the lies, I really loved both Abe and Skyler. Abe is so NOT a douchebag (and I have felt that way about the last 2 heroes in this series for sure!) and its hard not to find him totally swoonworthy! Skyler and Abe have great chemistry too!

If you have read the previous books, there are some good cameos that will make you smile (Zeke!) and a great epilogue that will get you psyched for what else Ney has in store! The Lying Hours is a fun spin on the secret identity trope with college athletes and all the hijinks that come with that!
