I fell in love with Drake Prescott in Incumbent. I also fell in love with Schwehm’s writing! So, I was excited to read Gripped-Dane’s story!
Dane is a man whore golfer trying to make it into the pros. Bev was the character who won this book for me though. Some people don’t like their heroine to have self confidence issues, but I love it because I get it! I can relate to her. She didn’t have a tragic upbringing-her parents loved her but they weren’t always around, she was bullied a bit in school for her weight, etc. There was no abuse or any other terrible backstory. Just a girl who needed people to care for her. Um, hello! How many women can relate to this!?!?
That being said, this book was more angsty than Incumbent. Drake and Beverly have a lot of maturing and growth to do in this book and throw in the long distance relationship with Bev’s insecurities and you have some angsty times for sure!
