So, I only discovered Jennifer Ryan a few months ago, but I love her writing! Her Renegade Rancher is the story of Colt and Luna, whom you met in Stone Cold Cowboy as Sadie’s BFF and Rory’s brother. They share a kiss in that story, so Her Renegade Rancher takes place after that.
The kiss…both of them wanted it. However, Colt feels guilty for kissing his best friends girl. Luna feels guilty that her ex punched Colt. So, how do they deal with their guilt? They ignore each other! Not really helpful since they will have to be in Sadie and Rory’s wedding. Then Luna’s friend dies and she suddenly gets a huge windfall. Needless to say, his sons are NOT happy.
The plot is double layered. You have the love story between Colt and Rory which goes from cold to married in the blink of an eye. I wasn’t really sold on their relationship. I wish it had been built up a bit more. You also have the revenge plot which I really enjoyed. While there isn’t much of a mystery as to who is doing things to Luna, you do constantly wonder what will they do next and that made the story really interesting.
If you enjoy Jennifer Ryan’s books, and have enjoyed the Montana Men series so far, you will enjoy this book! Its fairly fast paced and I found it to be a quick, enjoyable read.
