Goodreads
The sizzling second novel in a sexy new contemporary romance series featuring the Lawless siblings from "New York Times "bestselling author Lexi Blake. Brandon Lawless is a man on a mission: obtain the information that will clear his father s name. He s willing to do whatever it takes even seduce his enemy s personal assistant, the beautiful and innocent Carly Hendricks. But with her beguiling smile and captivating intelligence, Brandon soon realizes he doesn t want to deceive Carly, he wants to win her over both in the boardroom and the bedroom. Then a twisted crime leaves Carly vulnerable and Brandon finds himself reeling. The stakes of his mission are now life or death Carly s life. And Brandon realizes he s lost his heart to an amazing woman and his plan must succeed, because the stakes are no longer just revenge, but a once in a lifetime love."
Satisfaction is exactly what it promises! Danger, deception, deceit, and more! This is the story of Brandon Lawless and its heartbreaking. Bran suffered more than any of the other Lawless children after their parents died and he has not overcome the ghosts of his past. Carly Fisher’s ex husband is now in prison for embezzlement. Oh, and the person he stole from? Carly’s boss, who is now blackmailing her to continue her job. FYI-Carly HATES the job.
Now, Satisfaction centered on a different couple that Ruthless (Book 1), but you really do need to read Ruthless first to understand the dynamics. You need to understand what happened to the Lawless family and who they believe was responsible. All of this backstory sets the stage for why Bran approaches Carly to enlist her help in bringing down her boss, Patricia. At first, I wasn’t really sure I cared much about Bran or Carly. She was a sad sack of woman and he seemed like a guy with a serious issue (screwing hundreds of strippers so he could provide them with something they needed to help them out?!?). Bran had a pathological hero complex that was deep seeded in his psyche and it was NOT a good thing. However, both Bran and Carly are well developed and by the end, I felt they had both matured and grown. I was annoyed at their seemingly constant ‘miscommunications’. Luckily, the miscommunications are not the only plot trope and they are managed somewhat quickly. These did make the characters seem immature and drew me away from the story overall which got annoying.
The story is a non-stop trip of danger and spy stuff which will really keep you reading. There are a LOT of players in the game as well, and you will question who is really good and who might not be what they appear. As the Lawless children continue their quest for revenge, new information is uncovered and things change DRASTICALLY. There is a bombshell at the end that had me shouting “What the actual fuck!?” so loud I woke my husband up.
A note about flame rating: The sex scenes are VERY descriptive. However, there are only maybe 3 of them in the book. So, I waffled about a flame rating because while they are very descriptive, they are not plentiful.
