Non-Bookish News:

Hooray for the weekend! It has been such a long week. Working both Saturday and Sunday last weekend, plus all 5 days the week before and this past week…I am ready for a break. My plans for this weekend included only activities that involved my bed, sweatpants, my kindle, and my TV!

Coming up on Thursday evening we have parent teacher conferences. So, I work a whole day, then meet with parents from 3 -8pm. Such a long night. But, we are getting closer to Thanksgiving break and I REALLY need the time off. Teaching is exhausting. You have to be on your A game all the time. Since I teach special education, I have to be ready to do Algebra II one bell, then Biology the next, followed by US Government, Theology, and then maybe English. So, I have to REALLY be on top of things. I have to be super organized and I have to know a lot of info to keep up with everything that my students are doing. So, yes, I get the whole summer off, but I earn every one of those days during the school year.

I have been binging on Law and Order (the original one)! I forgot how much I loved that series. I really loved the seasons that have the detective pair of Briscoe and Green and McCoy as DA. I would totally buy the seasons off iTunes, but they only have seasons 1-4 and then 16-20. None of those awesome middle seasons!! WHY!?!?

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Teaching is exhausting. The one thing I relish since leaving teaching, is how my job ends when I walk out the door. Special Ed teachers have it tough, when they give you schedules like that too. Where I taught (high school), the special ed teachers were part of a department, so they specialize in math, science, etc. They could still have 3 different subjects to prep and up to 10 classified kids with all different mods though. Forget it, it’s hard either way. Hang in there, the break is coming.

  2. Oh, I know that teaching is exhausting. I lived with a teacher for almost ten years (second husband), and he was always caught up in preparations. I was just a student teaching year short of getting my credentials…but then moved to a place where I couldn’t finish it. Instead, I got my M.A. in counseling and did that work for thirty years. I was happy to work with kids in small groups and individually…sometimes life takes us on unexpected pathways.

Enjoy your time off…well-deserved! I haven’t read any of your books…very tempting. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  3. Teachers have such busy days. I can’t wait for Thanksgiving break I haven’t had one in quite some time and looking forward to it. I wish I had time to take off for Christmas Break, I used to do that but my boss is a jerk. LOL

I love the old Law & Order, I must have watched them a million times when they were on TV.

I hope this week is better for you! Happy Reading! ox

  4. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Cajun Crazy – I almost accepted a review copy of it but I’m trying to be good and catch up on older ones so I passed. It does sound like a really good read though! I also really want to check out Helen Hunting’s books at some point since I’ve heard so many good things. It sounds like you have had a very busy week. I hope that you get to relax all weekend long. Have a good one!

  5. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed Touch of Red! I agree the series is good and you don’t have to read the previous books to enjoy it. I have a copy of The OUtpost coming once it releases on Tuesday. Happy reading Samantha! 🙂

  6. That sounds like an exhausting schedule. Several of my relatives are teachers so I know how hard you all work. I hope you were able to rest up this weekend and that the weeks before Thanksgiving are better.

Hope you’re able to get some reading done.

  7. I hope you had a relaxing weekend. My mom just retired from teaching last year. She hated parent-teacher conferences, especially the long hours. Hope everything goes well.

That Jill Shalvis book looks good. I am in the mood for holiday books.

That is cool that Audible is offering a romance package. Maybe they’ll start offering things for fans of other genres as well.

  8. First off, I hope you are enjoying the weekend and doing some good time relaxing, you deserve it hun.

I am pretty excited to see this audio for romance deal. I am curious to see what Audible will do with it, and I have a feeling it will be pretty popular.

  9. I really liked the first Law and Order, and the Special Victims Unit one as well. We are watching right now. My son is counting down to Thanksgiving break too. lol… Enjoy those new books, they look amazing!

  10. I hope you get a break this week! Sounds like your job is quite demanding, so you definitely deserve some downtime. Enjoy your new books!

  11. I’m glad you had such AMAZING plans for the weekend and I hope that relax worked out for you and that you’ve managed to unwind after all that work!

Teaching REALLY sounds exhausting and I totally agree that you need all those days off!

I’ve never watched Law and Order but I really think that I should get into it one day!

I hope you’re having a great week! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
