Non-Bookish News:

So, last Sunday evening I was struck with a stomach bug. Monday morning I had the worst headache form the dehydration, so I called in sick to work. By the end of the day Monday, I was feeling better! Tuesday morning comes, I get up, get ready for work and head out. I am about 1/2 way to work when I just KNOW I am going to puke again. So, I pull over and spend 10 min dry heaving by the side of the road. Then I send a text to my coworkers letting them know I won’t be in, and turn the car around and head home. I had to stop twice more to get sick. Wednesday I had 2 IEP meetings to run so I had to be at work. The puking stopped around 1 pm on Tuesday, so Wednesday I was just tired. Thursday we had parent teacher conferences so I was at work from 7 am until 8 pm! Friday was an in service day. This week just about did me in!! So much going on and then to have a stomach bug on top of it?!

While our in service was boring and not really a good use of our time, I did enjoy the day with my coworkers. I work with some seriously great people! We laughed, we joked, we rode 4 wheel scooter trolleys down a ramp in the building. It was enjoyable.

Monday I have to get my blood drawn for my biannual thyroid check up. I have a thyroid autoimmune disease that I have been on medication to treat for about 5 years now. So, every 6 months I get a total blood workup and meet with my doc to see if I need meds adjustments. The problem? I pass out every time they take blood. Doesn’t matter if its only 1 vial. My doctor says its my body’s reaction to pain. I used to pass out when I got shots as a kid. Its just awful because there isn’t anything I can do! So, I am not really looking forward to Monday (but I honestly don’t mind having my blood drawn! I don’t feel that its that painful. My subconscious seems to disagree though!)

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Sorry to hear about your reaction to blood tests and the stomach bug! So weird how your subconscious seems to take over huh? Ugh so many bugs going around this winter! I HATE dry heaving! and it’s really bad when you get sick while driving 🙁 Hope you feel better now. Hope Monday goes somehow better than past experiences 🙂

    • Dry heaving is the worst. I have always said I would rather have anything except a stomach bug. I do feel better now for the most part! Working in a school doesn’t help with the germ situation. Even after 10 years of teaching I still get sick occasionally. But, I have built up a pretty good tolerance to the common stuff!

  2. I’m so excited to read Devil in Spring this week! I have lots of expectations so I really hope it delivers. I got Pipe Dreams too and I’m looking forward to reading it.
Oh man! Your stomach bug sounds like a really awful experience. I’m sorry you were so unwell. And getting your blood drawn will not be fun given your reactions in the past. I hope it goes well.
    Take care, Samantha!

    • If Devil in Spring is a let down, I will be crushed. But, she has never failed to deliver so I am hopeful!
The stomach bug was awful but thankfully the worst seems past!

  3. oh my goodness…that just sounds awful!!! What a rough week you have had….good thing we have some great books coming out this week to cheer you up right? I honestly can’t decide which book I want to read first though….Devil In Spring is going to be awesome, I just know it.

  4. Oh no, I’m sorry to hear about your reaction to blood tests. Hope this one will be better! It seems like everyone’s been sick lately. You’ve been reading a lot of Alexa Riley lately, is she that good? I don’t think I’ve read any of her books but I’ve seen your updates so I’m intrigued!

    • Alexa Riley is my guilty pleasure read! Her books are short and smutty! Alpha males, insta-love, and always an HEA. They aren’t everyones cup of tea, but I love them!

  5. Oh man, so sorry to hear you got sick. The stomach bug is never fun. Glad you are feeling better. I hope this week goes well for you in reading and school. ^_^ Love your new additions you picked up. Can’t wait for Silver Silence.
This week my parents are in town visiting, so I’m not on the computer as much. Also I’m helping them with their iPad and iPhones. They just don’t get it sometimes ^_^ Happy Reading!

    • Oh I had to teach my mom how to use her iPhone. She never wanted one, but her company switched to them a few years ago and she was forced to learn. Then, she won an iPad at a company christmas party. It was comical because she would never use the thing!

  6. Sounds like a rough week, being sick when you’re busy is the worst. Glad you survived it okay and hopefully this week is better! Riding scooter trolleys lol- sounds fun!

Sorry to hear about the blood draw thing- hopefully it won’t be too bad. Hope your week is good!

  7. Sorry you weren’t feeling well 🙁 And yikes, that sounds awful that you pass out every time you have blood drawn! That’s so weird, especially since you said you don’t even mind having blood drawn, so it’s not even like it’s a fear-related thing or something. Good luck with it, maybe this week will be better, at least after Monday!

  8. So sorry to hear about your stomach bug. That sounds awful! It’s so scary that you pass out every time they take blood. I’m a big sissy about getting my blood taken. I get lightheaded every time but I think it’s because I either hold my breath or I hyperventilate. lol! Hope everything checks out okay with your thyroid!

  9. I’m glad you enjoy the in-service training, well…. the time with your colleagues anyway.

Sorry though to hear you’ve been sick and it sounds like it hung around for a while too.

Hope all of the blood tests work out ok. I’m on thyroid medication as well and recently had my thyroxine levels checked.

  10. Oh my goodness, that stomach bug took you down hard. That’s terrible. And passing out every time blood is drawn? Well that’s just inconvenient, isn’t it? 😉 Hope all is still well with your meds and that no changes need to be made. Here’s to a healthy week!

  11. I am glad the stomach flu is behind you now. I know how miserable that can be. So sorry you had to miss work and then come in tired. Sounds like a very busy week! I hope everything went well on Monday with the blood draw! My week this week is pretty average– which is good. Work is busy, but I don’t have any meetings or training scheduled. Monday was a holiday and I went on a field trip with my daughter and her Girl Scouts troop. That was fun. The sun is actually supposed to be coming out today. We’ll see. I hope you have a great week, Samantha!
