It’s been a rough week. We had the viewing for my father-in-law on Wednesday, and then the funeral on Thursday. Dean (the dog) escaped a few more times, once, on Thursday after the funeral, rolling ALL in poop. When I finally caught him, I ended up with poop on me as well. We were a block or two from the house at this point and it smelled so bad. Then, when I got home I realized that I couldn’t give him a bath or take a shower myself because the water heater broke that morning (we still had cold water, but the bath/shower had NO water because of the type of knob it has). So yeah, a viewing, a funeral, a broken water heater, and poop.
Tuesday was my first official day. It was a district wide meeting day for all the people who work for the county educational service center. So, it was good-very informative and such-but I wasn’t at my school. I have my first day at the school tomorrow. I am mostly freaking out because its all new-new people, new routines, new expectations. I’m trying to remind myself that I will learn all those things.
Friday was spent doing all the things around the house. I attacked the front porch and tried to clean up the weeds that have taken over. I fixed more places in the fence (seriously-how are there still any places he can get out???), and I hung the privacy screen on the fence (well, I started it-I still have to finish). I used power tools! But, by the time I was done, I was dying. It was hot, I was covered in dirt and sweat, and I had bent over so much my back was killing me.
So, yeah, this wasn’t the best week for me. But, it’s over and I am thankful for that. Wish me luck at the new school!
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

You’ve worked so hard I’m sure you will do great tomorrow at school! I’m sorry about your FIL, the dogs and the poop. Were you able to get the water heater fixed or replaced? It’s hot enough here that I can have the water on cold and the water is hot right now. My water heater is newer 2019 and in the attic. Wishing you a smooth week and good weather.
Good luck with the new school! Your week was definitely a sucky one – sorry about your father in law – but hopefully things will get better from here.
Oh no that sucks. We love dogs but sometimes… lol. Good luck with your new job! I hope it goes very well.
Ugh! Sorry for all the hassles this past week! I hope your next week is better. Good luck at your new school! We have teachers coming back this week, and then students next week.
I’m so sorry for your loss! Dog shenanigans on top of all that! Doesn’t sound fun. If my water goes out (it did on a regular basis at my last house) I boiled water on the stovetop for a bath. Wasn’t a perfect solution but it worked in a pinch. Good luck on your first day, and I hope you have a better week, Sam!
Wishing you a fantastic first week!
Oh no, I’m sorry it was such a rough week. 🙁 I hope your first day at school was much better! May there be no escapes and no poop this week!
OMG talk about an awful week Samantha!!
