#SundayPost: Christmas Eve!

Welcome to this week’s Sunday Post. This feature is brought to you by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer, so swing by after you are done here and get the full list of participants!

  •   Probably nothing. I need to get caught up on reviews but life is hard.

Nothin’!

I enjoyed my first week of break. I did some landscaping while it was in the upper 50’s this week. We had snow on Monday, but it didn’t last long. It is suppose to be in the 60’s on Christmas. Crazy weather.

I have been re-watching Law and Order SVU. I forgot how abruptly Stabler leaves. He was there one episode and totally gone the next, with 2 new characters. Otherwise I am enjoying the rewatch.

I did some cleaning too. Now, I need to focus on getting some work done. I promised myself I would get some reports written. Work is so busy for me, I need to get a little ahead. I realized that if I got sick, I would never be able to take a sick day because I have too much to do. On the flip side, my husband is taking a week of his 2 weeks vacation time for 2024 in the first week of 2024. He is gonna regret that because he runs out of sick time every year.

Happy Christmas eve to those who celebrate. We are going to my parents house tomorrow, but it will be low key, unlike Thanksgiving where my mom cooks so much we don’t actually get to talk to her because she is so busy.

My new student loans are going to be $958 per month. Y’all, I cannot pay that. We can’t pay our bills now without that. That is about 1/4 of my monthly income. I’m on the income based repayment. I am terrible about money, clearly. We are living way beyond our means and I am going to have to do something. I mean, that student loan payment is only $200 less than my mortgage! This is causing my anxiety to be super high and I have been having panic attacks near daily. I haven’t had them this frequently since before we got my medication adjusted correctly. It’s difficult because my husband doesn’t handle any of the bills. It’s all my responsibility so I am handling it alone. The stress…

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. yeah I didn’t want to spend the holiday doing financial and tax planning but every December I have to do it. And it ties into how we get our health insurance too. I hope you can enjoy the holiday for a couple days and then get a bit ahead. I have read and actually written reviews for some of my 2024 ARCs and it feels great.

  2. Oh my gosh! Can you not get onto the SAVE plan and have lower payments? I’m on that hoping to eventually get to do the public service loan forgiveness after the right number of payments, and mine was a lot lower than what I thought it would be. I’m hoping that it doesn’t go up though, because even with my low payment, adding that on this past few months has really caused me to use my credit cards more, and now those payments are getting to where I was before I did bankruptcy about 8 years ago. :-(. So I feel what you’re going through. I hope you can get some things figured out and are able to have a nice holiday.

    • that is my payment on the SAVE plan! I was shook! We filed bankruptcy 12 years ago. Between crazy inflation on everything, huge student loan payments, and poor choices, I am in way over my head.

  3. My daughter as just lamenting her grad school loan payments too. She said something about trying to get the repayment completed within 10 years, but I think if you talk to them, they will work with you. So many people default on student loans too, they should be glad someone is trying to work with them to pay their loans. Try to enjoy your time off and have a wonderful holiday!

  5. Merry Christmas! Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Yeah it could be the interest for the loans have been raised. I know my parents house payment have tripled in the past year. I would reach out and see if there is anything to decrease that interest rate to keep them more manageable.
