I got nothin’
It has been a crazy week. My dad had a doctors appointment Monday that led to him being hospitalized and scheduled for a stent placement surgery in his leg. Tuesday, they were unable to do the surgery and determined they had to amputate from the knee down. It was (of course) shocking to hear. He had been complaining of foot pain for so long, and none of his doctors seemed concerned. Then, everything happened very quickly. So, I spent much time this week in the hospital with my family and trying to help my parents get things done. He made it through the surgery fine and was in good spirits. He even made a joke about getting the leg back so he could make his own leg lamp from The Christmas Story. Then, Saturday was my mom’s birthday. It isn’t the birthday she imagined for sure.
I was really lucky that I was able to take the time off work and jump in to help. My brother doesn’t really have the option to just call off work, so I am very glad I am able to do so when necessary. He has a challenging road ahead. We aren’t sure when he will be released but he is determined to be out of there by Monday and headed home.
It was all so exhausting I slept until 9 on Saturday morning, which doesn’t happen often. I am really behind on stuff as well. I had to skip a monthly meeting with my university supervisor (of course she was very understanding, but I have a portfolio due in a few months and really hated to miss), I had to have a coworker cover a meeting for me, I’m behind on all my reading and posting, and then there is the typical weekend stuff I need to get done (laundry, groceries, etc). Next week I have parent/teacher conferences as well, so it will be a late night. Just thinking of it all is making me want to take a nap.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

Sounds like a tiring week that you have had! I hope things get better this week for you! And we have some great book releases this week, so its packed schedule for me haha
I’m sorry it was such a tough week. I hope you get some rest this weekend and have a better week ahead.

So sorry that your dad had such a major change in the surgery! Glad he is able to joke about it though. I love that Katee Robert series, I need to get my hands on the next one. Hope your week goes better!
Oh my gosh I’m so sorry to hear that! How awful. Wishing your dad a fast and smooth recovery, and take care of yourself as well!
Sorry to hear about your dad! That is shocking news. I hope he has a speedy recovery!
My god what an ordeal!!!! Your poor dad! Well, at least in this day and age they make some pretty decent prosthetics so hopefully he’ll be up and about on a new leg before you know it. Crazy that his doctors didn’t know anything was going on ahead of time.
Oh my goodness, that had to be shocking news about your dad’s surgery. I’m glad it went well and I hope he gets to go home soon.
Samantha I am really sorry for your dad! My dad was also amputated below one knee so I totally get it! Hugs to you and your family!
Wow, it sounds like a rollercoaster of a week. Sorry to hear about your dad but what a relief he made it through the surgery ok. It sounds like the week hasn’t gone as expected at all. Hopefully your dad does manage to get out of the hospital quickly although I imagine it’s going to be a big change for him once he is home.
Good luck for your father’s recovery. And happy birthday to your mom. I’m also looking forward to reading Radiant Sin.
