Its August! That means back to work for me. We have teacher work days leading up to the kids official first day (August 12). There is a lot to cover-new rules about small groups, where all the new hand sanitizer stations are, how kids will fill water bottles with no drinking fountains, how to take temperatures every morning, and all the other new procedures related to COVID. Wish us luck!
Also, I got my new (old) hearing aids! So in early June I decided to upgrade and try out a new pair that is super techy-streams from my phone, routes calls through my hearing aids, translates foreign languages, is rechargeable, and allows me to fully control all settings and volume from an app on my phone. But, I got cold feet because they are more visible than I planned on. So, I turned those in and got a smaller, c-i-c (completely in the canal) aids. No cool tech stuff, no controlling from my phone, but smaller. I didn’t like them. They didn’t fit well and the sound quality wasn’t nearly as good as the 1st pair I tried. So, after a chat with my counselor one day, I decided to go back to the first pair. I really need the ability to control my hearing aids because my hearing varies (sinus issues). Finally, they came in on Friday! Just in time for me to get back to work. I’m still dealing with my uncomfortablility with the visibility of the aids, but they really are better for me and will allow me to be more engaged in activities.
That’s my week in a nutshell! Wish me luck as I start a new school with new hearing aids (for someone with massive anxiety, this is a big step for me).

Wow! I will be eagerly awaiting all your news from the school-front. I cannot believe they are moving forward with in person school. I understand and empathize with both sides of the issue, but I worked in a school, I don’t see the feasibility of it all. Good luck. My thoughts are with you.
You got this! I know it might cause anxiety but just think how awesome they will be and how much they will help you!

Those hearing aids sound amazing, so clever but such a shame you aren’t totally happy with them.
My kids go back on the 12th, they are so excited despite all the new rules.

Yay for going back to your old hearing aids? I mean, yes they’re more visible but surely the benefits outweigh the negatives? It’s great they give you so much more control. It’s amazing how much hearing aids can do you for you.
I find it crazy kids are going back to school in the US. It must be a real crazy time to be getting ready to go back to work. I hope it goes well, it sounds like you’ve got a lot of things to learn and get sorted in time for the start of the new year.
