eARCs thanks to the authors and publishers:

I got way too many books on the audible sale. Its a problem. Not a problem I plan on solving or anything, but a problem.

I had my endoscopy on Friday. She had a hard time finding a vein. She blew the one in my elbow and had to go for one in my hand. I get flush and nauseous every time they stick me, so by the time she went for the second one, I was near to passing out. But, that was the worst thing that happened. Overall, the endoscopy looked good. He biopsied a place and thinks that we might need to adjust my reflux medication but said everything else looked totally normal.

I took one of the dogs to the vet this week. It was a $500 visit! She is 14, so it was a normal visit for shots, plus blood work for her age. Then they prescribed meds for her arthritis and liver function. And, we had to get heartworm meds for the year. That was only 1 of the 4 dogs! Thankfully, the others are all young and won’t need as much done, but still!

We are still working on housebreaking the new boys, Sammy and Dean. We think that prior to us rescuing them, they were either living in a crate or living outside. They are adjusting really well, so I am hoping that in a few more weeks we will have the house training down. Many years ago, with Calleigh, we used a bell for her to communicate when she needed to go out. Well, the boys think the bell is the best toy ever so we are trying something different. I got a couple of the dog buttons you can record on. I’m gonna try that and see if they can get in the habit of telling me when they need to go out. Fingers crossed!

So we had a weird interaction with the neighbors yesterday that had my anxiety up for sure. So, its an elderly man that lives in the house, but he has family over frequently. They had kids over on Saturday and they were playing with a nerf gun that had these dart like things. Well, the dogs found two in our back yard so I tossed them back over the fence (not easy because the fence line is very tree covered). Couple of hours later, this woman knocks on our door. She says “Your boy has a couple of my kids darts” and she is holding one. I said, “I don’t have kids. But we found two and threw them back into the yard”. She said “Well they said your kid took them” and I was so confused. I didn’t have my hearing aids in so I was already stressed about having to talk to someone and she didn’t seem to plan to leave. I told her that I don’t have kids (again) and that I threw 2 back and will throw another one back if we see it. Then she just stood there and stared at me. I shut the door. And for 2 hours my brain could not let this go. First, clearly your kids were not being honest if they said my kid took them because there are NO kids here. Second, maybe your kids should be more careful and instead of coming over and accusing us of something, just ask if we happened to find any. The whole situation just rattled me. I ended up having to take an Ativan just to calm down and let it go. I don’t want drama with my neighbors. I know horror stories about people who end up with neighbor problems. There is a whole Discovery show based on this. So, this is how my anxiety ruined my Saturday.

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. 500 for a visit to the vet??? If we have bloodwork and several vaccines I’d be at 200 top I think. I also hope that you won’t have to face that woman again! Or send your husband maybe?

    • Normally I never answer the door. That is my husband’s job. It was the ONE time yesterday he took the dogs out back instead of me. And yes, the vet here is so expensive. So expensive. But, people will pay whatever because they love their pets, you know? Hopefully, you only have to go once a year anyway (for the annual shots and stuff).

  2. I’m sorry to hear that about your neighbor. That would be stressful, especially when they’re wrong! You just never know these days. I hope you don’t have any further problems…

I had to laugh at your Audible problem comment 🙂

  3. I understand the crazy vet bills. I put almost $800 on my Care Credit card just for vet bills last month when my two were sick, and honestly they didn’t really do anything. Ugh. So sorry about your neighbors, that sucks. I’m lucky I have good neighbors on one side, and no one lives in the house on the other side at the moment. I hope you have a better week!

  4. yes our vet bills seem to get close to $500 every time now and our dog is only 5. I’m so sorry about the neighbor I would feel the same including being upset for hours afterward. I hope they leave and you have a great week.

  5. I bought 5 books on the Audible sale and one was with a $10 coupon. Yay! Glad to hear your dogs are settling in. Bummer about the vet bill. Yes, neighbor issues are unsettling, but hopefully you won’t have any more problems. People are so aggressive nowadays! Hope the rest of your week is more peaceful!

  6. Oh no….neighbor issues are the worst because thats where you live and they can cause such issues, hope everything gets resolved. Love the issue you are having with the audible sale, hope the problem persists lol

  7. Vet bills are pretty much the only reason I haven’t gotten another dog. My previous two dogs died from cancer, and that took all the money. Sorry about the neighbor. That is a weird interaction. I hope you’re having a great week.
