Calleigh had more bandage changes-Monday and Thursday. We had an unexpected bandage change on Saturday. I was pulling the press and seal off the bandage (we have to water proof it) and the whole bandage came off!! This was at 4 am, so we just had to cover it as best we could until the vet could see us. It was a stressful morning. The doc is hoping to remove the stitches tomorrow. That will be almost two weeks since the surgery. So, think healing thoughts for her!

Tuesday I have an appointment to have my hearing aid looked at. It isn’t pairing with my phone, so I can’t control it (adjust the volume, check charge levels, etc). I’m hoping it will be an easy fix. I am sure the warranty is up (I have had these for 4 years). If we have to send them off to be repaired, at least it is almost summer and I won’t need them every day. I couldn’t work without my hearing aids.

Sammy and Dean have vet appointments on Thursday for their annual check ups. It’s doctor visits all around for us! Ranger had a groomer appointment yesterday, but he loves that. He gets so much attention. Dean escaped the fence this morning. We had been escape free for weeks! But, I still feel like we are winning the rabbit war. I might have lost a battle, but we repaired and enhanced the fence in several places.

We are down to single digit school days! 8 days left! The behaviors are getting really bad. Truancy is up as well. Seriously, check on your friends who work in schools-they are not okay.

I’m doing pretty well with the low carb/high protein way my doc wants me to eat. I’m getting more water too. I haven’t lost a single pound. It’s been 4 weeks. I wasn’t expecting a miracle, but at least a pound or two. I am under my calorie count every day as well. Getting older just sucks. Even My Fitness Pal said I should have lost 5 lbs.

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Urg! I feel your pain at not losing the weight. As we get older, our bodies seem to want to hold onto the pounds far more tenaciously! And I recall the runup to the end of school – the last week is always a bit mad… I hope the next few days aren’t too manic, Samantha:)).

I agree, getting older sucks, and all the nutrition stuff is complicated and contradictory. I am thinking of going to see a dietician. My daughter did well with hers. Good luck with the pups and have fun counting down till summer.

  3. It’s so frustrating when you are doing everything they say to do, and the weight still won’t come off. (By the way, if they haven’t done a thorough check of your thyroid levels, I recommend asking them to run a full panel. Low thyroid levels will stymie any effort to lose weight. If you’re already checking on that, my apologies for the unsolicited suggestion.)

I hope all goes well for your dogs, and you can get your hearing aids repaired or replaced. This getting older stuff has its challenges, doesn’t it?

    • It was actually my endocrinologist who told me to do the high protein low carb. I have been on thyroid medication for close to 20 years now. Thanks for spreading the word about thyroid issues! I know my levels initially were in the “acceptable” range but I still didn’t feel well and had to fight to get someone to listen to me.

  4. That has to be hard to be without your hearing aids but like you said at least it will be during the summer. I struggle with getting even an adequate amount of protein much less amping it up. I’m not a fan of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese and those seem to be go-to’s for many people.

    • I can’t do greek yogurt or cottage cheese either! Yuck! I’ve been doing okay with chicken and lean beef, plus nuts and protein bars.
