Who knows! I have nothing planned!

Happy Mother’s Day! I share my love of reading with my mom for sure. Her mom was a big reader too. My mom also taught me to be tough and self reliant. I’m so thankful she is my mom!

What a week! So, I am getting my school psychology license. I need a practicum supervisor to observe for 1 hour a week. My plan (as was my university director’s) was to use my plan time and after school time at the elementary to complete this. Well, my new job decided they were NOT okay with this. I told them in the interview I was working on this and they were excited (there is a serious shortage of school psychs). However, when I reached out to ask for the school psych who would be willing to be my supervisor, I was told that I could not spend my plan time doing this and it was inappropriate. I was stunned.

First, my university supervisor specifically mentioned she did this and recommended that we do things this way. Second, I have done numerous placements like this in my educational career. Everyone has to do some observation hours and they need to work while they do it-its not like you can take a year unpaid in order to do an hour of observation. So, I cried hard that night, then I picked myself back up and told them I would not be accepting the position they offered. Then, I asked my administration if I could stay at my current school. Thankfully, I could! They are fine with me doing my school psych stuff.

While it isn’t what I originally wanted, I am okay with this. I know my current school so there is comfort there. I know the school psych and she is totally okay with helping me out. I’m just glad it’s sorted.

Otherwise it was a low key week (thank goodness-I couldn’t have handled another blow). We have only 8 days of school left and I am ready for summer.

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. How frustrating to have your plans changed like that – especially when they agreed to it! My daughter taught 8th grade for a couple of years and this kind of back and forth is pretty much what drove her out of the education field. Have a great week!

  2. That is frustrating about the job thing. I know when I was working on getting my Library Science Master’s Degree, I wasn’t allowed to just work during my plan time either. I had to do a summer school internship for it. And then that district that I worked with didn’t even hire me when a job opened.
I still need to read Emily Henry’s last book, that I own. Ugh. You got some good books, can’t wait for Jay Crownover’s new ones!
