We finished state testing. It was exhausting! My kids were burnt out, I was burnt out, and we were all just cranky. But, only 2.5 more weeks of school then SUMMER VACATION.

I’m starting to get stressed about grad school now that it is looming on the horizon. I have to make contact with the school psych at my new district to see if he/she will agree to be my practicum supervisor. I have to figure out how to pay for all of it. I have to take 4 classes a quarter and work full time. Oh, and apparently, I’m suppose to not work for a year while I intern. How could anyone afford to do that?!?!? I’m hoping the school psych at my new district will be okay with me continuing my job and doing the school psych stuff on my plan time, before school, and after school at the elementary. Something new to worry about.

This Friday there were 7 teachers out. I knew I was going to have to sub AGAIN. The thought gave me a panic attack. I called in sick. I’m not even sorry. I cannot go to work to do someone else’s job. I just can’t handle it. It’s too much chaos, too much confusion, and too much stress. I’m good at a lot of things, but this is just something I can’t handle.

So, I spent Friday having a movie marathon! I watched Legally Blonde and Speed to have a sort of flashback of my late teens/early 20’s. Then I watched the new Mortal Kombat (loved it). Then, I finally watched Die Hard. Yes, I’m 41 and have never seen Die Hard before. It was okay, but I didn’t love it as much as everything else I watched that day.

I can’t believe it’s May. Seriously, how did that happen?!?

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Of everything you mentioned up there, my head turned to see you had never seen Die Hard. You’re not that much younger than me, so I am surprised. Hope you liked it! The countdown of 2.5 weeks until you get to leave this job and start your new future. I know it will all work out for you. (and I don’t blame you for calling in sick. I probably would have done the same thing)

  2. Urg! Yes, I did Supply Teaching for a couple of terms near the end of my primary school career and HATED it. Walking into someone else’s classroom and taking responsibility for a class of children who didn’t want me there wasn’t remotely my idea of fun. So I’m with you – especially at the end of a particularly gruelling term. I hope the coming week isn’t too harsh, Samantha.

  3. Samantha it will all work out! I believe the school psych will be open to what you need to do. Have a wonderful week and …vaycay soon!

  4. Don’t worry, I’ve never seen Die Hard either (and I don’t care to! lol)
I hope you manage to work out the interning/practicalities of your grad course. It is insane that they think people can live and work for a year and not be paid… Actually, it’s pretty disgusting. 🙁 Good luck!

  5. It does sound like a stressful period, but It’s great you have the summer vacation to look forward to! Haha, at least you can say you have watched Die Hard now! ?

  6. I can understand why you’d call sick. Very stressful! Only 2 more weeks, though,! That’s awesome.

I enjoyed Lady Has a Past and also got a copy of Dream Spinner, Once Upon a Puppy and Say Goodbye. Hope we both love all of them! Have a lovely week, Sam!

  7. A movie marathon day sounds fantastic. I like re- watching old favorites too. Wow, good luck with grad school! It’ll be worth it. Happy reading this week, Once Upon a Puppy looks so cute.
