Non-Bookish News:

Merry Christmas Eve (for my Christian friends) or Happy Sunday if you don’t celebrate Christmas! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

My students finished exams on Wednesday so we are on break until January 3rd. It is much needed for everyone-I could tell many of my coworkers and students were stressed and tense (myself included). Hopefully we are all able to regroup and come back stronger and ready to power on! January to June is a really busy time with only a handful of breaks (spring break is the week after Easter) and lots of state testing. I’m hoping for a snow day or 2 this year.

I have had a terrible cold for weeks now. It gets a little better, then gets worse. Its been a vicious cycle and I am hopeful that the rest and time away from the germ factory that is my job will help! Why is it that the only thing teenagers share are germs?

Friday it was almost 60 degrees here. Then it rained a ton. Saturday-it turned to snow. The weather has just been nutty and not helping my cold.

I worked on my best of 2017 list this week. I had SUCH a difficult time. I just felt that there weren’t as may books that wowed me this year. But, I did come up with a pretty good list. I can’t wait to see everyone elses list. Maybe I missed the great books this year!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I hope you feel better soon! I caught a lot of colds when I was working with kids…and realize that, knock wood, I haven’t had any post-retirement! The hermit, blogging life has been good for my health. lol

Enjoy your week….and the holidays. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  2. HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!! I hope you enjoy the weekend with your hubby and loved ones. And thanks for mentioning my post, just gives me all the warm fuzzies. 🙂 I am sorry to hear about your cold. Have you tried apple cider vinegar with hot water and lemon and honey? It really helps me if I ever get a cold. I haven’t gotten sick yet but I have been chugging down orange juice anytime I am near someone sick and so far its working hehe Don’t know how long it will last though. Hope you get better SOON!!!

I loved your favorite 2017 video though, and wow so dang good. I loved watching it. I adored Racer, not as much as his parent’s books, but his story was wonderful. How To Tame A Beast In Seven Days was amazing, and the second one just as good. I really have adored this different world she has created. So different from her Love At Stake series right?

Thanks for sharing and get better SOON!!!

    • I haven’t tried the apple cider vinegar thing. I will have to check it out. I work in a germ factory so I need to be more diligent. I have to keep some airborne and lysol in my desk at all times!
I’m glad you liked the video!! I have been trying to play around with some videos to diversify a bit. I love iMovie. I haven’t read any other Sparks books except this new series. But I love this series!

  3. Happy Holidays!! Ya for BREAK… When I was in school it was the thing to look forward too and snow days ^_^. Hope you get a few snow days. I’ve got my Top 10 list ready to go. I had trouble with my picks this year too. I felt like you. Not many outstanding books. I did a lot of re-read or listing to my favorite series for the first time, so I had some new, but not a tone. I also tried to work on backlist titles instead of the new stuff coming out. I like winter break, but I’m ready for it to be over; because I have my boy home and my family visiting. Nothing wrong with either, just no time for reading. I can’t read until everyone is gone and he is back, so my ARC’s are pilling up. Last, I hope you feel better. It’s never fun to have a cold especially one that doesn’t fully go away. Take care and have a wonderful week!

    • I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who struggled with a best of 2017 list! I think everyone with kids at home is ready for Christmas break to be over! It totally messes with your normal routine!

  4. Merry Christmas to you and enjoy your break! I hear you on the weather, we had snow and it was cold cold then it got warm enough- for one day- to melt everything. Now it’s cold again. And hope you feel better soon! No fun being sick over the holidays.

  5. Oh sorry to hear about the cold. Oh it must have been hard for you especially with work and busy schedules. I hope you have a relaxed time on this Christmas break and get better. Merry Christmas and happy holidays. ?❤️?

  6. Colds are the worst! I hope you greet the new year in good health and rejuvenated from your break. I have been struggling with my best of 2017 lists too. It’s so hard, and I am trying to not be repetitive. A book may only appear on a list once, but I think I am going to have a hard time doing that when I get to the next topic. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

  7. Everyone seems to be on break now 🙂 glad you got one too! Really too bad you’ve had a cold as well, but I guess you’re right. I don’t think it’s just the teenagers – it’s generally big crowds of people. I’ve been sick much less ever since I started working freelance 🙂 but either way, hope resting can help it get better!
    Happy holidays to you 🙂

  8. Hopefully by now you are feeling better after having a week away from the germ factory! I had a major reading slump this year that i’m Still teetering I’m so I didn’t have a lot of fantastic reads either. One of my favorites was Sugar Pine Trail by RaeAnne Thayne!

Hope 2018 is very kind to you and that you get that snow day or two you’re wishing for!
