This literally could have been a pic of my classroom as a child.
Why do short weeks feel so long? But, things went fairly well. Until Friday. So, my office at the high school is in the guidance office conference room. There is a group of ladies that eat lunch in there every day. It’s not a big deal usually-I just eat lunch at the same time. But Friday, they all ordered chipotle and didn’t even ask if I wanted any. Then, they ate it in the conference room table and there was no room for me to sit there. So, I ate at my desk while they had a very loud lunch and totally ignored me. It was super awkward. At first, I was like “oh whatever, it’s no big deal” but the more I thought about it, they spend most of the day pretending I’m not there. They have meetings in the conference room while I’m sitting at my desk, and Friday, one teacher and her cheerleading squad spent the whole morning in there getting ready for Homecoming. So, it was kind of hard to do things like call parents or work with kids when my office is used by just about everyone. So, I think I am going to spend my time at the middle school and just go to the high school when I have to. Clearly, they would rather have their conference room. I mean, its almost like they are just trying to make me uncomfortable.
But, I finally got some reading done this week! That was nice. Now that we are getting back into the swing of the school year, I’m getting more settled into a routine. That always helps with my reading progress. Also, I read while they were having their loud lunch in my office. I mean, I couldn’t get any work done, right?! Time well spent.
Since I switched jobs, my insurance changed as well. So, we finally got my prescriptions switched over this week. Now I need to update everything at my various doctors and such. I get why people don’t want to change jobs. Its kind of a hassle.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!
Those old school Halloween costumes take me back. The masks with the single rubber band that snapped in like 10 minutes. lol
How rude the others in your office are! So much for being welcoming and including you! I don’t think I’d want to be part of a group that cliquey anyway. Ugh.
Hooray for more reading time! That’s one nice bonus with settling into the new routine.
Yeah, it was really rude. But, it didn’t really upset me that much (which is HUGE personal growth for me). It just made me realize how clique-y small towns are! I will just spend more time in the middle school!
Well Samantha these ladies are clearly rude! You’d think they would have a new colleague feel welcome and included… Hugs!
You would think that, wouldn’t you! They are even excited to have someone in person since their last psych was virtual. But, no, I guess they aren’t willing to be THAT welcoming and excited. Oh well!
As much I love the holiday weekends too….they always feel so much longer haha and it takes longer to recover and I don’t party or anything lol
Very excited for your thoughts on the K. Bromberg! Such a great author to read. Hope you have a great week!
I’m sorry they were so insular and really it’s horrid when it’s your office. Can you do that – spend most of the time at the middle school? yes insurance is hell and I wish it weren’t tied to your job. That somehow just gives employers too much control over your life. I hope things will get better as you continue to get more settled into the new routine. Cooler weather will be great too.
What a rude bunch of women! Doesn’t sound like it would be good to be part of such a group anyhow. I usually try not to get involved with people like that because they’re usually gossiping about others. I keep my distance from that negativity. At least you got some reading done and you can choose to spend more time at the middle school. Hope you have a wonderful week, Sam!
Oh my gosh those costumes… right???
That’s rude! Some people. The kicker is they probably consider themselves nice people too. lol
You are totally correct about short weeks seeming longer! My clerk and I were saying that to each other on Thursday and Friday. I’m sorry those people are being rude, I hate that! There are a still a few teachers at the school I’m now in my 3rd year at that don’t even say hi to me when they walk through the library. It sucks when you have to share your office, so I can see why you might do the middle school more. I’m so behind on Bromberg’s books sadly. I got the Lani Lynn Vale book, but hadn’t signed up for it, I’m not really into this current series of hers since I don’t really care for the MC type of stories, but that’s just me. Hope you have a better week!
Ugh…sometimes the adults are way worse than the kids in social situations. I’m sorry they’re being so rude and not trying to include you. That’s just mean and hateful.
People should grow up. They’re adults now, not mean kids. So rude.
