Ezekiel "Zee" Chase has a complicated past. Born into a family whose wealth grew from the seedy world of big-time crime, he ran away as a teenager and made a home for himself on the streets of Detroit. By day, the mechanic works at a local garage. But by night, he throws down with the best of them in Detroit's gritty underground fighting scene. With all those muscles, he's never had trouble with women--until he meets one who challenges him to the greatest fight of his life. . .
Tamara Eliot is a hardworking corporate high-flyer who appreciates the finer things in life, from her expensive perfume to her designer handbags. More than anything, though, she likes to be in control--and when Zee explodes into her life, she feels anything but. He's the definition of a bad boy: brash, fiery, and of course, irresistibly hot. And there's a darkness about him that keeps her coming back for more. As Zee takes Tamara deeper into a world she never knew existed, she just might prove to be the one opponent he won't be able to dominate--at least not without some pleasurable convincing . . .

Well, this wasn’t what I expected at all… Here were the issues I had:

  1. Tamara is one of the most unlikable characters I have read. She is judgmental, snobby, and just generally a bit condescending.
  2. She is cheating on her boyfriend. She does talk to him and they decide to ‘sow their wild oats’ and get it all out of their system before marrying. WTF? There is no love there-she is with him because her parents want her to be. Bleh.

Not that I am opposed to sexy books, but Zee and Tamara have sex in his car after her offers her a ride home. Why did this bother me? THEY JUST MET! Like, literally 20 minutes ago. So, it just wasn’t working for me. Like, at all. While I hate to DNF a book, this one was checking all my no-go boxes!

However, I think if you like the smutty books with dubious plots, you would enjoy this. The writing is good and the sex is super hot. Its just not my cup of tea really!

About Jackie Ashenden

Jackie has been writing fiction since she was eleven years old. Mild mannered fantasy/SF/pseudo-literary writer by day, obsessive romance writer by night, she used to balance her writing with the more serious job of librarianship until a chance meeting with another romance writer prompted her to throw off the shackles of her day job and devote herself to the true love of her heart – writing romance. She particularly likes to write dark, emotional stories with alpha heroes who’ve just got the world to their liking only to have it blown wide apart by their kick-ass heroines.

She lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband, the inimitable Dr Jax, two kids, two cats and some guppies (possibly dead guppies by the time you read this). When she’s not torturing alpha males and their stroppy heroines, she can be found drinking chocolate martinis, reading anything she can lay her hands on, posting random crap on her blog, or being forced to go mountain biking with her husband.

  1. I didn’t like this one either, and I was pretty disappointed since the blurb sounded good!! But yeah the sex was overdone, the romance was lacking, and the cheating was no good.
