I enjoyed book 1 of this series, Going Down Easy, and couldn’t wait to get into book 2. Lucas and Maxie have a VERY interesting back story in Going Down Fast!
They were childhood BFF’s. They always loved each other but never acted on it. So, Maxie marries Lucas’ brother, Keith. Then, Keith dies and Maxie is in serious money trouble. She turns to the love of her life, Lucas. Holy sexual tension, Batman!! Its tangible for sure! As the story unfolds, you find out more about Keith and the dangers now facing Maxie. Lucas is totally alpha and will do whatever it takes to keep her safe! Swoon!
I found myself wishing I had more of the backstory between these two though. Its a second chance romance, but I would have liked to have more stories from their past to help really build up their romance. As it is, Phillips just sort of tells you “hey, they loved each other” and then moves on to present day. Does it ruin the story? No. But, I wish it were more fleshed out. This is a really short book, so I guess there was just no time.
If you want a STEAMY read, a second chance romance, and a hot alpha billionaire, Going Down Easy is a GREAT pick! This fast read will have you dying for more!

It’s been a while since I’ve read a good steamy bad boy romance! The backstory is definitely interesting but how sad that the brother had to die for them to be together. I’ll look into getting this one and the first!
The brother was a bit of a douche so it wasn’t a hardship that he was dead! 🙂 These a quick, steamy reads that you might enjoy!
It’s been a while since I’ve read anything by Carly Phillips. I should change that though I too would probably wish for more from this romance’s past. Still, it sounds enjoyable so thanks for the review!
This is a good series. The books are short and steamy so you can read them in one sitting!
