This is a standalone by an author who believes in love at first sight.
[ob-li-gey-shuh n] An obligation is a course of action that someone is required to take, whether legal or moral.
At six years old, Myla was sent to a family her father and mother had chosen for her when they knew their time on earth was almost up. What they were unaware of was what they thought would be her safe haven would become her living hell.
Kai has been watching Myla from afar since he took over the family business from his father and inherited the responsibility of keeping her safe. When word gets back to Kai that Myla is not only in danger, but that his assets are being compromised, he immediately jumps into action and does the only thing that can be done at the time by marrying her.
Neither Myla nor Kai would have thought that something that started off as a farce would become the most important thing either of them could've ever done.
Please be aware that the content of this book may be difficult for some readers. (18 and over due to sexual content and language.)

what i think

I have found such enjoyment from Aurora Rose Reynolds’ books. I love the over the top alpha males, the mystery, the suspense. Almost all of these books are crazy over the top though, so if you are one of those people who likes your fiction on the ‘realistic’ side, these books will make you CRAZY!

So, Obligation is book 2 in the Underground Kings Series. I was interested about Kai from reading a piece about him in Assumption so I was excited to get to this book. Obligation kind of jumps right into the story and there were times I found myself wondering if there was a prequel novella or something I missed. The story is still understandable, but I kept thinking “wow-we really are just jumping right in there!”. Myla and Kai are great characters! You can’t help but love them and want this to work out. Kai is in a bit of a shady business and Myla is on the run from her adoptive brother. Everything about their relationship is crazy rushed in order to keep Myla safe but Kai never treats her like an obligation. He genuinely loves her and its really awesome!

So, why four stars? There were times when I wanted the book to slow down. I want something explained. I wanted the characters to question something. Bottom line? I wanted more!

  • POV: Mostly Myla with a few chapters from Kai

NEW YORK TIMES WALL STREET JOURNAL AND USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR Aurora Rose Reynolds started writing so that the over the top alpha men that lived in her head would leave her alone. When she’s not writing or reading she spends her days with her very own real life alpha who loves her as much as the men in her books love their women and their Great Dane Blue that always keeps her on her toes.
