Goodreads
A broken man finds a woman worth living for in the new novel in #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan’s Torpedo Ink motorcycle club series.
Kir “Master” Vasiliev doesn’t care whether he lives or dies. He’s a burnt-out shell with no one and nothing but his club. Whatever Torpedo Ink needs, Master will put himself in harm’s way time after time. If he doesn’t make it back, he’s certain everyone will move on just fine.
Investment banker Ambrielle Moore knows her own mind, and she’s not willing to settle for anyone. So when a second-rate gangster and his thugs try to coerce her into marriage—and giving up all of her family’s money—she’s having none of it. Until they turn to cold-blooded murder.
Grieving and enraged, Ambrie is ready to go scorched earth on her captors when Master shows up anticipating a damsel in distress. But Ambrie is nothing like he expected, and everything he never knew he desired....
Recovery Road continues the Torpedo Ink series. This series is dark, but I have really enjoyed it and was excited for another story. Master and Ambrie’s story is dark, but ultimately hopeful!
Master doesn’t really care if he dies. He feels like being the one club member who didn’t have his criminal record wiped clean means the club doesn’t care about him. He knows that if he has to go back into prison for another job, it will be the death of him. Ambrielle was almost forced into a marriage by a thug who wanted her inheritance, but at the last second she was saved by Torpedo Ink. To keep her safe, she marries Master on the spot.
Both of them have feels for each other, and they really want this to be an honest marriage. Master has no self esteem left, and is sure Ambrie will leave him once the danger has passed. Ambrie isn’t a damsel in distress though and she fights hard to show Master that he is worthy of her love. Their story is really powerful in the way it shows the damage done to one’s psyche and how difficult it can be to repair it. I just loved these two so much!
