I ended up taking a sick day on Friday. It was the best idea. Teaching is exhausting. Being a full time grad student is grueling. I caught a cold this week too. I was just over it all.
We found out that our school is using a large chunk of the COVID money from the government to give all full time employees a $2000 bonus. Since the last conversation about how to spend the money was “The athletic department has a million dollar wish list” this was very unexpected. While it doesn’t make the extreme difficulties of the last 2 years any easier, it is nice to be rewarded for the hard work. And even better, the money comes with our December 15th check!
My grad school semester ends on December 10 and I am looking forward to that. Classes won’t start again until January 10th. It will be a nice break for sure!
I hope all my American friends have a happy Thanksgiving! I know I am looking forward to it! My mom promised lots of leftovers and that is super exciting!

Wow! I hope the bonuses happen. I am telling you, if you can stay home when you are under the weather — do it. I probably caught covid because I was already battling a sinus infection. Be well and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Yes, teaching is exhausting right now, and I can’t imagine being a grad student during this crazy time also! Wowza, that is a nice bonus! We’re getting $500 each in my district. My old school district I found out gave $500, but spread it out over like all their paychecks for the rest of the year, so that is crazy. Hope you have a better week and are feeling better!
