Goodreads
After years of living as London’s brightest scandal, Lady Sesily Talbot has embraced the reputation and the freedom that comes with the title. No one looks twice when she lures a gentleman into the dark gardens beyond a Mayfair ballroom…and no one realizes those trysts are not what they seem.
No one, that is, but Caleb Calhoun, who has spent years trying not to notice his best friend’s beautiful, brash, brilliant sister. If you ask him, he’s been a saint about it, considering the way she looks at him…and the way she talks to him…and the way she’d felt in his arms during their one ill-advised kiss.
Except someone has to keep Sesily from tumbling into trouble during her dangerous late-night escapades, and maybe close proximity is exactly what Caleb needs to get this infuriating, outrageous woman out of his system. But now Caleb is the one in trouble, because he’s fast realizing that Sesily isn’t for forgetting…she’s forever. And forever isn’t something he can risk.
Bombshell by Sarah Maclean was a delightful read with a very modern-for-her-time heroine. Clearly, I am way behind on my books though! I really liked the scandalous sisters and I’m not sure why I didn’t read Sesily’s book right away. But, here were are.
Sesily decided that she is going to live her life the way she wants and she doesn’t care a bit about what society thinks of that. She fully embraced being one of the Soiled S’s and has become passionate about her choices. The fierce female friendships are a major focal point of the story and it is wonderful. All these outcast ladies come together to do good things-by doing terrible things to no good men. I just loved it! They support each other and embrace their status. Caleb, our hero, is also somewhat of an outcast. He is an American. But, he has gone in on a pub with Sesily’s sister Sera, and Sesily is just smitten by him. So, she puts herself out there, and he leaves the continent. She has tried to move on in the time after, but once he returns, she realizes she still has feelings for him-both of hurt and humiliation and love.
I loved their story because they both have feelings for each other and have their reasons for refusing to admit it. Caleb can’t help himself from getting caught up in Sesily and her friends plots though. Bombshell was such a fun read with a delightful romance! If you like your historical romances with nonconforming characters, you will adore Bombshell!

Hello Stranger by Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare …then you will probably like Bombshell!

Glad you liked it. I always like Sarah MacLean’s books, especially these series that sort of go together. Hope you enjoy the rest of these books as well.
Sounds like the type of historical romance I would enjoy! Great review!
