Length: 43,000 words

I love the Red Stone Security series! Sworn to Protect is another great addition. Quinn is ex-military and ex-cop who left the police force after helping his boss’s wife escape her abusive husband. The husband/boss is out of prison now and ready to get revenge against Quinn.

Athena is a party planner and very good at what she does. A former chubby girl, she is a 24 year old virgin who is more than ready to lose it. She thought Quinn would be the guy. They had several dates and things were going great…until she dropped the V card bomb on him. He high tailed it away from her.

Flash forward a couple of months and Athena is now working for Red Stone Security and runs into Quinn. Quinn realizes he shouldn’t have freaked out and really wants another chance with her. Being smart, Athena is a bit skeptical but agrees to try being friends. Quinn is assigned to accompany her to a trade show in Vegas to provide and assess security. Their relationship escalates quickly. But, the villain decides he can get back at Quinn via Athena. Predictable? Yep. Overall, I thought the ‘bad guy’ was just meh. He thinks he is so smart and has this plan all figured out, but it was kind of lame. So, in this story, the suspense was my least favorite part, which is unusual for Reus books. Quinn and Athena made up for it though.

The narrator did a great job! Her ‘male voice’ wasn’t overly distracting or too fake. She reads at a good pace and her inflection was solid. Basically, she didn’t do anything that took me away from the story, and thats what I like in a narrator!

  1. I really enjoyed Reus’ paranormal series and I have the earlier books of her romantic suspense series that I can’t wait to crack open!
