Lawrence Finkle, known simply to his die-hard Minnesota Wild fans as Viper, isn't used to hearing the word "no." He lives his whole life just a little on the reckless side. After all, life is just one big game, right?Wrong. When what was supposed to be an innocent bet goes horribly wrong, he's left to deal with the aftermath-and the guilt. In an effort to make things right the best way he can, he ends up falling for the one person on the planet he never should have. The old saying goes that two wrongs don't make a right . . . or do they?

my ku pick of the monthCement Heart by Beth Ehemann

Well, I am not having ANY luck with KU lately. Last month’s pick was a DNF. This months pick? Yep, another DNF! Sigh… I had high hopes for Cement Heart!
So, why did I DNF Cement Heart? First off, the book starts with a threesome (M/F/F) so I should have known this would NOT be a book for me. But, I thought, “Hey, lets give it a shot”. I made it a few more chapters before I just threw in the towel. I didn’t like Viper at all. I thought he was vapid and his rules? Oh my gosh if you have to have rules about not going down on one night stand girls, perhaps you should raise your standards! Ugh!
Lots of people love Cement Heart. I mean, just check out the reviews on goodreads and you will see I am obviously in the minority here! But, I knew right away this wasn’t a book I would enjoy even if Viper’s behavior improved. I don’t know that I would ever like him. At best I might tolerate him. Who whats to read a book with a hero you can tolerate?
After 2 months of DNF’s, does anyone have suggestions of great books on KU that I will enjoy?!?! I know there are some good books out there but I cannot seem to find one that will work for me! Here are a few I am considering for next month:

  • To Love Jason Thorn by Ella Maise
  • The End Game by Kate McCarthy
  • Storm by Carion Cole

My other thought is perhaps I will review books that are Free on Amazon. Maybe I will find some gems in that category! I can be a pretty picky reader sometimes so perhaps I am limiting myself too much. I am open to ideas/thoughts/suggestions so let me know in the comments!
