Caite McCallan is a Department of Defense admin working in Bahrain when a glitchy elevator, of all things, leads to an unexpected invitation to dinner by a gorgeous Navy SEAL. When he later stands her up, Caite’s understandably upset…until she overhears a plot that confirms Rocco didn’t blow her off. Instead, he and two fellow SEALs are in danger—and Caite is forced to put her career and her life on the line to save them.
Blake “Rocco” Wise never expected his routine mission to go sideways, but he was even more surprised to find himself and his teammates rescued by the adorably shy woman he met in a stalled elevator. Caite’s selfless act saved his life, but when attempts on her own make it clear someone wants her gone, it’s Rocco’s turn to protect the brave, sweet, sexy woman. The longer he knows her, the more he wants her…but keeping Caite close could bring her nearer to the enemy than ever before.
** Securing Caite is the 1st book in the SEAL of Protection: Legacy Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
Securing Caite brought me back to everything I loved about Stoker’s earlier books (Protecting Caroline) and I was in love!! You have one alpha male (who isn’t an alpha-hole), his SEAL buddies/brothers, an intelligent woman, and danger. What’s not to enjoy?!
Caite is a very typical girl. She went to college, got a degree, and now owes a crap ton of money. So, in order to pay it back, she accepts a contract position in Bahrain. Girl is WAY braver than me. I would have just told Great Lakes Educational Services they would have to wait to get their money from me! While there working on base, she meet Rocco and sparks fly.
The main plot line of the story involves Caite overhearing something she shouldn’t have. Now, the man responsible is out to eliminate her before his secret is discovered. Its very interesting and the book moves along at a great pace. Woven in with the danger to Caite is the budding relationship between her and Rocco, which is sweet and hot. Stoker tends to write a bit of ‘insta-love’. Now, I love that but I know its not everyone’s favorite. However, let me say that even if that trope kind of bugs you, Stoker does it in a way that is less annoying. Both of them have some strong feelings, but both understand this relationship is moving quickly. They have actual discussions about how they are feeling and its all very adult. If insta-love bothers you, chances are, you won’t be bothered by Stoker’s take on the trope because she normalizes it quite a bit.
Securing Caite kicks off the new Legacy series and I couldn’t be more excited for the rest of the guys to get their HEAs. I’m also VERY excited about the next book because the heroine is saving dogs!!!! Now that is my kind of heroine!

Buried Lies by Kaylea Cross, Cyclone by Janie Crouch, Dangerous Witness by Katie Reus …then you will probably like Securing Caite!
This sounds great. I like military sorts of romantic suspense and am a big fan of Kaylea Cross. I also enjoy Katie Reus, Elle Kennedy, Scarlet Cole, and the grandmaster Suz Brockmann who have series in this genre. Excellent review! Anne – Books of My Heart
