Non-Bookish News:
What a long, mentally exhausting week!! So many of my coworkers shared my exhaustion with the events of the week. One even said “Its too early in the year to feel this exhausted. This is like an April exhausting feeling and its only the first week of October.” It was the perfect way to describe it! Drama-llama at every turn, a million things to do, no one happy with anything…just thinking about it is making me clench my teeth again! I had a headache every day. Seriously, this was one of those weeks when I question my desire to be a special education teacher. Or any kind of teacher. Its exhausting.
It also doesn’t feel much like October (oddly, more like April!). Its been in the mid 80’s all week. I am ready for fall. Heck, really I am ready for winter. But I would take fall if it would arrive to SW Ohio. But alas, it seems that fall will elude me this week as well. Β Its suppose to be 80 again all week. If work is going to be this stressful, it would be good if mother nature would throw me a bone.
I got a new fitness tracker. Its a ring. I have an issue with watches/bracelets. I can’t stand anything tight on my wrist. So, a fitbit or an apple watch was not gonna work because I can’t stand that feeling. I tried both. So, when I saw the ring idea, I thought it was cool. So far, I am really enjoying it. It is a sleep tracker as well and water proof so you wear it all the time (shower, sleeping, etc). It only needs to be charged every couple of days and it will fully charge in like an hour! It doesn’t annoy me like something on my wrist does. I often kind of forget about it entirely. The app is nice as well. It gives me my sleep time, my resting heart rate, my steps, and my ‘active minutes’. I think this will be the tracker for me! (its called a Motiv ring if you are interested). And it definitely confirmed how stressed I was because I slept for 14 hours yesterday!!!
My happy for the week, as usual, was my dogs! Look at how adorable they are!! Cal rolled in
animal poo (again) and Yoda has licked a spot on his leg until it bled. I just have to keep reminding myself they are adorable and I love them. Brats….
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!
Oh you poor dear! I hope this week is a better one for you. I give you lots of credit for working with Special needs kids. The one I got is so hard to deal with and to have more than one every day…I feel for you.
They are cute puppies even when they roll in poo and bled. Give those puppies lots of hugs (after the one gets a bath!) π
Have a great week, Samantha! HUGS!
The fitness ring sounds pretty cool! I wear a watch and don’t want a hideous fitness tracker on my wrist as well or instead of, so I might need to look into this option! lol aren’t pets the best/worst? π
I hope you enjoy your new books, I must admit the title of ‘How to Date a Douchebag’ made me chuckle.
Oh man! I hope your next week is more relaxed! That fitness tracker looks awesome! What kind is it? A ring sounds awesome! And hurray for books on sale! My dog also licks A LOT but hers is allergies, which we’re starting her on meds for this week. I hope your lil Yoda feels better! Have a great week π
Its a motiv ring (Motiv Ring ) and so far I love it!
Yoda licks because of allergies as well. We have spray from the vet to help once he gets fixated on a spot. He takes benadryl too.
Your dogs are adorable. I get your feeling. They can be monsters sometimes. I call my Momo “monster” because he loves doing something I don’t like because he knows I love him and will never be upset more than 1 minutes. ?
Anyway, last week felt too long. I was exhausted alll the time. Definitely not the best week for me.
I hope you have a wonderful week. I’ve just bought Learning Hours. I loved the other two so can’t wait to start it. ?
Thanks!
Sorry your week was too long last week as well! It seems to be a trend!
MY oldest daughter is a special education teacher, she says there are some pretty stressful weeks in her class also. It takes special people to work with them, and I give you a lot of cred it doing it.
Your new books look great! Your fur babies are adorable! I hope this week is better for you.
I love the idea of a ring fitbit. Sheesh, work sounds hellish. I hope the week ahead is better. In the meantime enjoy all your new books!
Yes, I find I much prefer the ring to a watch!
A fitness ring? That sounds awesome – I don’t mind having things on my wrist, but I like my trackers to be fairly inconspicuous (they don’t always jive with my work clothes). Our pup has also been in fuzzy jerk mode and we’ve been blaming it on the full moon (like he isn’t ALWAYS in fuzzy jerk mode).
Looking forward to your Psy Changling reviews – I enjoyed the first book but haven’t tried any of the others and am starting to get into audio books ::)
Spoiler alert-I LOVE the Psy Changeling books!! The audio is AMAZING! I just started book 4 today on my commute!
Fuzzy jerk mode! I love that!!!
I admire you so much for working with children with special needs, it takes a person of patience and understanding and I just think its AWESOME you do that!! But I can just imagine how draining it can be sometimes.
Some great releases coming out, I read the SEA KING a while back and ADORED it so much. Probably one of the best books I have read all year. π
I know you loved Sea King. I haven’t read book 1 yet, but because you loved the series so much I have it on my TBR. I am waiting for my library to get their copy π
Wow, you slept for 14 hours? You must have really needed it! Sorry to hear your week was stressful.
I’ve read a few books of Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series and really enjoyed them. Hope you do, too! π
Yuck! Dog poop! But, you still love them anyway! Hope you had a nice weekend!
Ugh Samantha I’m sorry you had such an exhausting week, but I’m feeling you, there’s seriously just not enough hours in the day to get anything done! And what a nice varied haul! I hope you enjoy all your books and have a great week!
Schools are tough on special ed teachers. Hang in there! Those November and December breaks are coming. I am slowly becoming a Denault fan. I just finished the third Hometown Players books and am growing quite fond of the men from Silver Bay
Ohman hope your next week is less nuts. I love the idea of the fitness tracker ring. I just checked it out but it doesn’t support Android yet so I have to to wait but I love it!! Love the doggy pic π Have a great week!
I think teaching would be tough, I don’t know how you guys do it sometimes. I mean we have a good school but just everything the teachers do… man. Seems crazy. And yeah gimme fall without 80’s please lol. Not that it’s been that bad here- thankfully no humidity when it’s hot- but I could go for 60’s/ 70’s you know? Nothing north of 80. π
“rolled in animal poo again” Oops? That would suck. And poor Yoda (cool name BTW). Hope this is a drama- free week for the dogs (and for you)!!
I hope this week is better for you. I’ve not heard of the ring fit bit, but that sounds great. Glad you are liking your ring fit bit. Thank’s for sharing your puppy.s with us. I love seeing the animals behind the blog ^_^. Have a great week and take care.
I am sorry to hear you had such a rough week. Hopefully this week will be better. I am glad the Motiv ring is working for you. It sounds like a great device. I have a friend who doesn’t like to wear anything on her wrists either, and I bet she’d love something like that. I’ll have to let her know about it. Have a great week!
I totally understand the feeling. Last week was really mentally exhausting.
Good luck with the fitness tracker, it seems like a cool idea. Even though I haven’t heard one worn as a ring before. π
Hope you have a better week!
Oh no, what a week. Sorry it was so rough. Sounds like it was just a bad week all around for everyone… not just you. I sure hope this week is off to a better start.
Love the sound of the Motiv ring! I’ve not heard of that one before but it looks super cool! Love that it’s small and less in the way than most trackers. Glad it’s working for you!
Wow, a ring really is an awesome idea. Never heard about this kind of tracker.
I hope you have a better week! Took me a while to figure out how April is later in the year than October π but then I realized it’s the school year, lol…
I am loving my ring tracker. Its much less annoying to me than the wrist ones!
I didn’t even think about April not REALLY being later in the year! Its so ingrained in my brain that the year is August to July π
