Welcome to this week’s Sunday Post. This feature is brought to you by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer, so swing by after you are done here and get the full list of participants!

Happy Memorial Day to my fellow Americans! Thank a veteran today! Hug a veteran today (but only if they are okay with it! Otherwise, its just creepy!) My dad and uncle were in the Marine Corp, my grandfather was in the Navy, and my best friend was in the Navy as well. I have so much respect for the work they do!

What I Reviewed:

So, at the end of May, I managed to read 12 of my goal of 16 in the #CleanSweepARC Challenge. I feel pretty good about that considering how busy May has been for me!

What’s Coming Up:

  • The Handmaid by Shay Savage (I loved this one!)
  • Empire by Rachel Van Dyken (bring tissues!)
  • Fallen Too Far, Never Too Far, and Forever Too Far by Abbi Glines (I finally read an Abbi Glines book!)

What I Found Online:

If you aren’t following Book Binge, you need to check out their WTF Covers. So funny!

Lexxie at (un)Conventional Bookviews has a great giveaway right now to celebrate her blogiversary!

And I am totally this dog this week…

This Week’s Book Haul:

Non-Bookish News:

Well….WE CLOSED ON OUR HOUSE! Its officially ours! We are moving in on Thursday. So, I need to get packing!

This week is our last few days of school-my students have exams Tuesday and Wednesday, then we have graduation stuff. Then I am free for summer!!!! I could never survive a normal job where I didn’t get summers off. Seriously, how do people do it?!?

In addition to my super exciting week, I also found out I will be chaperoning a field trip… to Italy!!! In September, I will be escorting a group of about 20 seniors to Assisi and Rome! I have never left the USA so I am nervous. I also have profound hearing loss so I don’t always hear what people say and that makes me nervous because I am afraid I will miss something. And I also have OCD that makes breaking out of my routine VERY difficult. But, I want to go on this trip. So, I am going to push myself to do it. If you have advice for traveling with hearing loss or OCD, I would love to hear it!

I finally got a library card. I haven’t had one since I was a kid, but a blogger friend (Thanks Brie!) convinced me to get one. Thanks to her, I have been enjoying some great audiobooks, and I snagged the first 3 books in the Rosemary Beach Series. Hooray for me (and my bank account!)

So, any big summer plans for you all?

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. oh Sam these are all GREAT news!!! First let me say I please thank all your folks for serving our country. I’m profoundly grateful and in awe of our heroes for keeping us all safe. I absolutely LOVE teachers (that makes you a PRETTY, PRETTY great family to me!) soooo I think teachers should totally enjoy their summers. I would LOVE to have my summers of but I’m not an awesome teacher :).
YAY you got your house!! god this is a three day weekend so you can get some packing done and then summer off to work on making your house a home 🙂
O..M..G a trip to Italy! the cherry! I totally understand you may be anxious BUT YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A GREAT TIME!! So happy for you:)

    • Summers off are pretty awesome. Although, most of us work quite a bit during the summer. Me-I have to administer several ACT tests for students with special testing accommodations, then I teach a test prep class for 2 weeks in August. But, having so much time off is still awesome. and it did work out perfectly for the house project- I have all summer to get us settled.
And I am so excited for Italy. Its gonna be amazing!

  2. Congrats on closing on your house!! How exciting! 😀 You did quite a bit of reviewing this month – that’s awesome! You make me feel like a slacker! XD I love the puppy video, by the way! Have a fantastic week!

    • Thanks! I don’t have kids or anything so I can read a great deal!! That puppy is just adorable! My husband tagged me in the post because I was doing the same thing the other night!

    • I am such a binge reader and I read crazy fast. Plus, I don’t have kids, so I have more time! I did like Rosemary Beach…except for Rush. Ugh he made me crazy! I binge read all 3 books in like 4 days!

  3. Omg, how exciting! First about the house, and then about Italy! I’m so glad you’re going to go. My former ASL instructor traveled a lot when he was younger (he’s deaf), maybe you can search out groups or something where they have experience with it. Pick their brains and get advice. I just looked up ‘traveling abroad with hearing loss’ and a lot of great site came up. Gosh, I’m so excited for you! And yay for summer break!

  4. Wasted Words by Staci Hart is on my wish list. I bought four new books last week, and this one didn’t make it to my cart. I had to reel myself in. I totally missed out on the Idol arc, but that’s OK, I’ll pre-order it!

    • I am excited for Idol-I love Kristen Callihan! Wasted Words was good but I didn’t LOVE it like a lot of other people. I found Cam a bit annoying! I know all about having to reel myself in!!!

  5. Congrats on closing your house! That must be very exciting. It’s also great you have the opportunity to travel to Italy on a field trip. Sounds wonderful! Bring comfortable shoes, and light luggage. Those cobblestones are killer. OMG, that dog and I are soul mates. Just put a book in its paws, and you have a picture of me this entire month. In fact, I just woke up from a nap 🙁 Haha! I don’t have OCD, but I’m beginning to believe I have narcolepsy.

  6. How exciting that you’ll be chaperoning a field trip to Italy! I’m sure it will be goo, even if you’re not used to traveling,, and you have a hearing loss. I’m sure it will be fun for both you and the seniors!
Congrats on closing your house! You will have to pack fairly quickly, eh? Moving on Thursday? That’s crazy – will you have time to sort through stuff you might not want to bring with you?
I agree about summer, I love having the whole summer off, and it was definitely hard when I didn’t!
Have a wonderful week and happy reading (and packing) 🙂

  7. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! You finally closed on your house, you’re done with school AND you’re going to tackle a HUGE feat and leave the country to travel Europe for your kids!!! OUTSTANDING!!! How do you feel? Relieved? Excited? Happy, I bet?

So what if you got Kristen Callihan’s new book which looks fantastic and that I covet… I’m so stinking happy for you!!! Not get packing and start throwing away the junk – time to purge!!! 🙂

  8. Yes to finally moving into the house!! I’m so happy for you! 🙂
And woah that trip to Italy sounds exciting but I can definitely understand your nervousness. It’ll be fun though and I can’t wait to hear all about it. I hope you have a good summer.
P.S I’m super jealous of Idol! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!
