- The House on Watch Hill by Karen Marie Moning
Well, we got a LOT of rain this week! It certainly made up for the 2 months without. The remnants of hurricane Helene came through on Friday and we got rain and wind! It ended up being about 2 inches of rain just on Friday (as of this morning, we are up to 3 inches total). My school was suppose to have our homecoming game and parade on Friday and dance on Saturday. But, with the crazy wind and downpour, the parade had to be pushed back to our next home game and the dance had to be moved indoors. But, the game went on as scheduled because as someone pointed out online-tissue paper and glue won’t survive the rain, but football players will!
I was sick most of the week, and Friday I finally just stayed home to rest. My allergies have been bad, and my ears were super clogged. That makes my vertigo really bad, which makes me nauseous. It was just not a good day for me. So, I stayed home during the hurricane downpour! (Clearly, I did NOT go to the game).
I had two meeting this week that were stressing me out. Typically, I don’t get nervous about evaluation meetings-I know what I am doing and I am good at explaining results to parents in a way that is understandable and supportive. But one meeting was with a parent whose English wasn’t fluent so we had to have a translator, and another was a behavior meeting where we had to talk about the student’s inappropriate behavior being unsafe for other students. Thankfully, both meetings went fine and I was worried over nothing.
Next week will be October already! We are still getting the house ready for the appraisal, so I am hoping I feel better ASAP. Having vertigo makes it difficult to do anything.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!
I hope you are feeling better. I believe the rule, when I was in school, was that the game went on unless there was lightning. The weather has definitely been wet, but at least we didn’t get a hurricane, right?
I hope that you feel better soon.
Glad that the Hurricane didn’t cause too much damage. It is so scary to hear of such things. We don’t get them here in the UK. We did get a fair amount of rain this week though!
My son is Autistic and I am fully aware that some of his behaviour isn’t acceptable (unfortunately he doesn’t understand) I like to be kept in the loop so that I can work with the teacher to try and help in any way that I can. Some of us parents can be reasonable 😂
Have a good week next week.

I’m glad you just got the tail-end of the hurricane! But sorry to hear you’ve been ill. Good luck getting the house ready for appraisal! We’re looking to move next year so will soon be doing the same!
I really hope you can feel better soon. I lived in MN many years where early frost kept the reign of ragweed at a lower roar.
I am sad you were unwell Samatha but glad that those meetings went well! Let’s hop next week will be more dry!
