Skye Copeland is on paid leave from her broadcasting job after accidentally drawing a pecker on the traffic map.
Let that sink in. Like it’s her fault the traffic pattern created a perfect schlong?
Skye isn’t laughing. She needs this job. And that’s the only reason she’s willing to chase down a story in her least favorite place—that hell on earth known as Vermont.
A quick trip. In and out. Much like - never mind. She can sneak into the town that once tried to break her, get the story and slide back into the good graces of her producer. Easy peasy.
But things go sideways the moment she steps over the county line. Her stepsister is running from a violent drug dealer. And the cop on the case is none other than Benito Rossi, the man who broke Skye’s teenage heart.
His dark brown eyes still tear her apart. And even as she steels herself to finally tell him off after twelve years, the old fireworks are still there.
Things are about to go boom.
Fireworks brings us back to Vermont but with a new set of characters in Skye and Benito. Skye and Benito used to be in love. The were young and foolish and it all fell apart. Now, years later, Skye is back in town trying to get a story and get her sister out of trouble! Who does she have to turn to for help? Benito, who is now a cop.
Skye has a pretty crummy past (to put in mildly) and I wanted to throat punch her sister (step-sister really) for totally taking advantage of Skye. Also, I was so irritated with the reason Skye and Benito’s relationship ended years ago. It didn’t have to be that way!! I did love Benito though-very alpha but very sweet too.
This story, thanks to Skye’s sister, has some mystery and action too. I loved that! Overall, Fireworks was a great blend of small town romance, second chances, and family drama!

other second chance romances like More of You by AL Jackson, The Good Luck Charm by Helena Hunting, Justice for Milena by Susan Stoker …then you will probably like Fireworks!
You had me at second chance romance, and the fact that I love this series and want Benito to get his HEA. Yeah, and I want to know more about this evil sister.
I love Bowen! Her books are always gold! I seriously wanted to hurt the step sister. She was just so….UGH!
I know Sarina Bowen is a huge romance author, but I haven’t read any of her stuff! I’m interested in her, but I’m pretty picky with my romance. The only thing that is drawing me back from Fireworks is the small town. Personally, I don’t like reading about small towns. Maybe it’s because I’m from one?? In your opinion, what’s her best book?
Ok, my absolute favorite is Rookie Move. Its a Hockey romance set in Brooklyn (so NOT a small town at all) and its a second chance romance. Leo Trevi (the hero) is one of my all time favorites!
