Separated from her son and forced to create a neural implant that will mean the effective enslavement of her psychically gifted race, Ashaya Aleine is the perfect Psy: cool, calm, emotionless... at least on the surface. Inside, she's fighting a desperate battle to save her son and escape the vicious cold of the PsyNet. Yet when escape comes, it leads not to safety but to the lethal danger of a sniper's embrace.

DarkRiver sniper Dorian Christensen lost his sister to a Psy killer. Though he lacks the changeling ability to shift into animal form, his leopard lives within. And that leopard's rage at the brutal loss is a clawing darkness that hungers for vengeance. Falling for a Psy has never been on Dorian's agenda. But charged with protecting Ashaya and her son, he discovers that passion has a way of changing the rules.

Hostage to Pleasure continues my spiral into the Psy-Changeling world and I love it. Ashaya makes her first appearance in the previous book where she is the scientist in charge of Protocol 1, the highly secretive and controversial Psy implant device. She isn’t comfortable with the council’s kidnapping of children and using them, so she helps them escape. But in Hostage to Pleasure, she and Dorian have their own love story!

No one is sure they can trust Ashaya. However, all the panthers adore her son, Keenan, who has joined their web of stars. But Ashaya has so many secrets that even her secrets have secrets. As the bond between her and Dorian grows, he manages to ferret out those secrets piece by piece, but he then has to deal with his own emotional turmoil. And to top it all off, the council is hunting Ashaya for her betrayal, a secret group is also gunning for her, and her sister is a psychopath who will go on a killing rampage if Ashaya doesn’t keep her in check.

The overall story begins to grow even deeper and I am so sucked in! I am dying to know what is up with Henry Scott. I am also curious how Anthony will change the council (or if he will be able to at all!). You also get more info about the dark mind and learn that Kaleb is able to communicate and somewhat manage it. While each book focuses on a different couple, the plot gets more intricate with each installment and even as you peel back layers, you discover there are infinitely more left to discover! Singh’s writing is superb and will suck you in and never let you go!
