Non-Bookish News:

Buying a house is so stressful! We got the inspection report back and now have to work with the sellers to see if they will fix a few things. Trying to get a mortgage is stressing me out as well. Gah! And don’t even get me started on packing…because I haven’t started.

Work has been nuts this week. My students are doing the state testing and it is stressful! Plus, I have IEP meetings every day. Its testing and IEP season in my life for sure!

Book slump. Its official. I am having trouble really getting into a book lately. Maybe its because I’m super stressed or maybe I am just burnt out. Either way, I am struggling! Hopefully its a short lived slump.

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Sorry to hear about all the stress of buying a house. BUT yay YOU ARE BUYING A NEW HOUSE!!! So soon the stress will over and it will be pure happiness πŸ™‚
You do have an ambitious TBR ARC list but ATTA GIRL! Go get them! I just saw the Soulless cover at the end of the post and realized that I read King because of your reviews! πŸ™‚ I really liked it πŸ™‚ so thx Sam!

    • Yes, I am trying to stay positive! But, I am such a doomsday-er sometimes I just can’t stop thinking about all the things that could go wrong! I’m glad you liked King. That series is crazy! The drama and darkness is nuts!

  2. That is a pretty big review list! And here I’m struggling to get caught up with my reviews at 5-8 books a month! Go you!
I went through the house buying stress 2 years ago and it really does take it’s toll! Luckily, as soon as you get the house, all that stress is gone as long as everything continues to work. We ended up having to replace the a/c just a few months after we bought the house and that was a pretty penny.
Good luck with the house and have a great week!

    • Yes, I am a freakish reader. I can usually get a book a day. However, I can already tell May won’t be quite that successful! Its funny you mention the AC because that is one thing we are pushing to have replaced.

  3. Only You has a really cute cover. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it.
I’m really sorry to hear about the house-buying stress. I can’t even begin to imagine how stressful that is. And ugh a book slump. I think most of us are in one at the moment.
I hope you have better luck with books soon and good luck with the house hunting and packing!

    • Yes, I am such a cover whore! I totally pick books by their covers sometimes! The stress is killing me and I am pretty sure thats whats causing the book slump. Hopefully once school is out for the summer things will get easier! I need the break for sure!!!

  4. Hey, hang in there with the house thing. I remember when we bought our house, it was HORRIBLE. We were first time home buyers and while we liked out realtor, he wasn’t great with newbies. I cried. A lot. And I know a thing or two about book slumps. I feel like that’s all I’ve known the past two months. Blarg!

    • Oh I am so glad I am not the only one who has cried!!! Its just so stressful and there is a lot of hurry up and wait. I do NOT do well with waiting!
Book Slumps suck!! I am over it! Hopefully we both get out of it soon!

  5. I can’t imagine IEPs & state testing AND buying a house all at the same time!! The book slump totally makes sense but you probably need something to turn off your brain for a bit each night, huh? Have you tried a completely different genre, like a non-fiction biography or something? Maybe something funny like anything from Jenny Lawson???

Good luck on the house, seriously!!! It’s all good πŸ™‚

    • I think because of all the stress I just can’t get into any book. Hopefully it will be over soon! (This is the last week of state testing and my last week of IEP meetings). Then just a few more weeks until summer vacation!

  6. Wow that’s a lot of review in April! I love that “Riveted” was DNF – it obviously wasn’t very riveting lol! (I amuse myself hehehe) I got Bad Romeo (book one of Leisa Rayven’s series) for free at RT a couple of weeks ago, as you’ve got book two it must be a good series so far πŸ™‚

I feel you about house buying/moving! We bought our first house last year…then had to sell it this year (oh military life) and that was…fun? Sure, fun lol! We’re waiting a while before we buy again – it’s exciting but so draining! Good luck with your buying and moving! πŸ™‚

    • Yes, it was certainly NOT riveting! Bad Romeo is GREAT! Such a good book!
Oh my gosh I can’t imagine buying a house and then selling it! I swear I will live in this house forever because I never want to go through this again!

  7. The house thing will all work out, it might not feel like it but soon you will be smiling. I am listening to the Wedding Pact this week and look forward to it. Chin up and have a fantastic week!!

  8. Buying a house does sound stressful. Good luck with all of that :-/ The book slump probably is from the stress. You’d think that, when you’re stressed, it’d be easier to just escape into a book, but it doesn’t work that way for me. I get too stressed to even read sometimes lol. But maybe it’ll just be a short slump πŸ™‚

  9. That’s a lot of reviews. I have a feeling your slump won’t last long with the new reads you’ve shared! Hopefully things will work out and the stress will let up. It’s a big deal buying a house.

  10. All those tests and the meetings going along with them sounds like a lot of stress, Samantha! I hope this week will be a little easier, even if testing isn’t over yet.
And I think you’re right about your slump maybe caused by all that extra stress. It’s difficult to actually sit down and enjoy a book when there’s so much else going on.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading – your new books definitely look enjoyable.

  11. Hang in there! We were lucky and bought our house in 2007 before the bubble burst and didn’t have barely any trouble getting the mortgage. finding a house was another story entirely! I hope things get easier once you work through the fixes and the mortgage. Totally sympathize on the packing front. πŸ™ I can’t imagine moving now. I’d probably chuck out half of what we have!

Good luck with your reading slump! I bet it’s the stress. I know when I’m stressed, I’s rather come home and veg out!
